Maybe Morey worked his magic and is trading Cook and Barry for a younger and quicker player. That may be considered a "medium trade" to him, and remeber the Rafer trade came out of no-where.

I really appreciate it. Never had the patience (bandwidth / speaker) to listen to audios and watch videos. :)

    Thanks.

Thank you DM for backing up my stance that we do not make the 2nd round without Ron Artest. Carry on.

100% Agree. Nice job, DD, even if you are completely irrational about Wafer.

Thanks D.D. for all the hard work you put in.

Some of the things that stood out to me were:

    ___________________________________________________________
DM: Every GM is a moneyball guy, biggest part of job is to win title, you need All star caliber players in the NBA, either you do it through the draft, but that is hard because you have to be terrible....or you have to find players that help us win games but are intermediate stuff to trade for high caliber players.

    -------------------------------------
H: Yao, you guys actually believe that Yao can come back and it is not as career threatening?

DM: I am not a doctor but based upon what the foot specialists are saying they all said with the advances in the genetic goop they put in the bone to help it grow, it gives you optimism, but no one knows how a 7'6" guy's foot will react...but if you look at the data of a normal man, we have optimism there. The bottom line is that with Mac out and Yao out, those are our all star players you need to win a title, whehter taht is Yao coming back or Tracy coming back or whether it is through a trade or young guys develop into that.....that is our focus right now.

    ------------------------------------
H: You are not done, things to take place, how many more moving pieces are there in play? You probably make one more move, Major, or minor?

DM: We actually feel we are stable, we could go to TC with this roster, the main move we are focused on is a bigger type of move...well there are 2 moves we are focused on....small upgrades like the Rafer move last year, those are smaller moves that help us, and the other is a major move where we can trade for an all star caliber type player who is one already or who may develop into it...or a fading one that we think has more tread on the tires than others think, got to be opportunisitc, can't force it.

    ----------------------------------------
H: Some Dallas sports talk host blamed you for the Orlando signing and that the Rockets will pick him up after Dec 15th.

DM: Now that he is a Magic, we don't adress it.....we had a number, he is over that, for a trade to happen there would have to be some new info and roster moves, not likely.

    -------------------------------------
H: Can you confirm the Simmons Artest underwear story....ROn is a different breed of cat, did Ron like to hang in his undies, on the bus in game 7?

DM: I read it, friends with Bill, not happy that came out, we generally try to be a place where players like to come and like to be positive about them.....we won't confirm it, but we are trying to forget everything about him etc.______________________________________________________

So from what I heard, his so call medium move might be closer to a big move IMO. He keeps talking All-Star and winning as oppsoed to tanking. He is clearly wanting to put toghether the best team he can, while keeping the ship heading in the right direction. :)

I see a trade or a FA signing coming. Something with a splash, but he doesn't want to let the cat out of the bag quite yet or get fans hopes to high.

...and the Orlando signing? who exactly was he talking about? I guess I miss that one.

Nice read, Thanks again D.D., forget the haters.

I think the comment about the end of the TMac/Yao era says the most. DM know we are in rebuild mode and not patching another run together.

i.e. TMac returning to "elite" status means we will get more when we trade him but we're still gonna trade him.

One thing is fairly certain I think:
He does not like Joey Dorsey and is regretting his acquisition. I think Dorsey won't be here for next season (maybe ship him out with Shane on some deal  )
But I think he does like James White and hopes he'll be able to contribute much more in the coming season.

    No trade.

Other teams are announcing ticket packages... It'll be something along those lines.

The Orlando signing is obviously Gortat. Dallas fans believe Orlando matched the offer so that they could trade him to the Rockets later... but highly unlikely says Morey.

Two things that jumped out at me, if that was authentically verbatim:

*calling the Rafer move a "smaller move." - that was pretty shocking in the context of discussing future possible moves. for the sake of pragmatism, GM's typically downplay any type of flexibility. in the hierarchy of trades, you would think dealing your starting point guard for a major rotation player would have been viewed as, at the very least, a big move. a "small move" to me, in GM-speak, would have been trading brent barry for a 2nd round pick or signing some scrub to a 10 day contract - essentially things that fans wouldn't even consider "moves" but rather expected in-house cleaning.

*saying the yao and t-mac era was over - for those wondering if he might possibly be re-signed next offseason.

thanks for the recap, and i agree...doesnt sound like he has anyone in mind...morey likes to stick to certain criteria when making deals and that's what he's looking for right now

The announcement he's talking about is probably Elston Turner getting hired as the coach of the Timberwolves, not a trade.

    DD Thanks! Great recap.

How do you find D Morey on tweet? I decided to come a little bit more out of the stone-age and try to learn how to use twitter.

well i think the point is he wants to steal that type of player, our starts have injury issues...i think morey means someonee like AI, although not him, that is kinds lost and seems to be slowing down, but is just on team or situation that doesn't fit and/or needs a change of scenery to get motivated again.

Sorry, man, still disagree on that. Shane can go, but not for the scrubs you want. :)

Anyhow, neither of us has trade approval authority with the Rockets, so I am happy to sit back and watch what happens.

I'll bet you $20 tip jar donation that Battier will not be moved prior to the start of the 1st regular season game. Up for it?

Nah i think he said smaller because he was comparing it to a move to bring an all star player, which would have to be a big move....unless you have extra large moves :D
