If Gortat's numbers in starts for Orlando are any indication of what he's capable of doing given heavy minutes, then we're looking at a potential steal for "just" the MLE. Of course, signing him to the contract -AND- Orlando not matching our offer would definitely help.
I applaud Morey on this. This is the best way to address the center situation. Go the free agent route, so you can save your assets for a trade to address your other needs (replacing McGrady). And identifying starting talent that has been relegated to a backup role is the way to go too. Morey's aggressiveness on Gortat is spot on. Very impressive.
