If he comes back he comes back if he doesn't he doesn't. With Yao being out and McGrady possibly out the 1st month or 2 of the season I just don't think it would be a best to trade his contract. Let it expire and keep it for the Rockets. What do they have to lose?

Deep down inside without a HEALTHY Yao and a banged up McGrady, Artest possibly on his way out Does this team really have a chance to compete? The powerhouse teams are getting stronger and we are dropping bodies. Not a good thing to trade Mac right about now.

I think we're overestimating Gortat just a little bit...To me, hes like any other backup center who never proved he could be a starter but got a ridiculous contract and then tanked.

Totally agree Gortat is just a cheaper Samuel Dalembert

Then have Yao, Gortat, and Chandler? Three true 5's totalling over $30 Million in salary. They shouldn't even let you do that on video games.

It was a smart move by Morey to offer the full mid level, so that other teams will have to overpay even more

not too much just Scola really

I dont think Moochie really burned the hornets
I dont think Wesley burned the hornets
I dont remember Bobby Jackson burning the hornets
I certainly dont remember Marciej Lampe (or however you spell his name) burning the hornets

Battier certainly didnt burn the grizzlies offensively though i think he helped keep Gay in check in some games
Francis did his first time around in Houston
    Lowry didnt so much
    Dorsey didnt

there were other minor grizzlies trades but overall trading within your division is an absolute no-no when you are trading a major star or near star player (ie scola) role players/parts dont really matter at all

I dont think any GM is that short sighted to not pull a move with another team because they are in the division, especially if the trade will benefit their team

Full MLE for Gortat is a huge gamble.

It was posted earlier that Gortat's agent is telling teams that he already has an offer, which league sources believe to be the Rockets since Morey met wit him last night

He's no Samuel Dalembert. He has next to no offensive moves but he is a work horse. Dude runs the floor as hard as Scola does and has no problem getting dirty down in the paint. All his points are on hustle plays and put backs but he is a solid defender and you never have to worry about him slacking on the court.

Given 30 minutes a game you can expect 15+ rebound nights from the guy fairly often.

An MLE contract is far from ridiculous. I don't think Morey will offer much more, if any more at all. Given his potential, MLE is about right, IMO.

In a regular year, the full MLE for even a Gortat level center is not that bad. But since we have to sign Wafer and Artest, the full MLE would mean we're trading Wafer and Artest for Gortat. Terrible trade.

Dalemberts offensive game sucks to but he can rebound and block shots.......hence the comparison.......Gortat might have little more hustle though....but you dont pay full MLE for a hustle/grit guy

No, we can sign Ron to whatever we want. We have his bird rights.

We can still sign Artest since we have his bird rights. Wafer is already out because of Budinger and Taylor. :D

I agree but you don't trade a guy like McGrady ( his expiring contract ) to your divison rival for basically 2 injury prone players in Chandler and Peja. McGrady and Yao are enough headaches to deal with. Now your adding more. Thats a no no.

Keep McGrady regardless of what happens. I think it would be best to let his expiring run out. IDK that just my opinion.

Wow. If this is true, Morey is going balls to the wall to get the guy. That's the most we'd offer Gortat, short of a sign and trade, and the MLE is the max of what he's worth, IMO. Unless another team that's loaded (Knicks, Dallas), or has the cap space to make an offer exceeding the MLE, and they are willing to make the move, we're probably going to land the guy. He knows he'd get the minutes, starting possibly for the whole season, it's with a great organization in a state that has no income tax, there is the very real "China benefit," the coach is one of the most respected and successful in the league, and we've been considered a contending team, with a lot of buzz about pushing the Fakers harder than anyone else in the playoffs.

I think we're going to get him. (just put myself out on a limb!) That's assuming Orlando doesn't match and word is they won't.

That doesn't mean anything. Ever heard of a thing called lying. The agent can say whatever he wants just so his guy can get more than what he deserves. Just like the Carl Landry thing a year ago but the Bobcats messed that up which made it easier for Morey to match the offer and laugh in the Bobcats face.

Thats assuming Les wants to go over the lux tax which he said he'll only do if it'll make an impact. If we're without Yao and Tmac can only play half a season why would he do that?
