Okay... but what I meant was I'm somewhat confused because if we only have a single spot open and Morey wants to leave that spot open, then all the rookies essentially have no chance to make the roster as it stands. In addition, if we sign Wafer he would not only take that roster spot, but wouldn't we have to use a part of the MLE to sign him? Wouldn't that also count towards the LT?
Rockets can waive James White without a cost, they can also buy out Barry or Cook if they really need to do. At this point the rosters have not set yet.
Oh okay, thanks. I wasn't aware that we could buy out Cook and Barry. I'd be pretty upset/surprised if we bought out Barry though. Need to complete the tradition of ending the Barry family's careers here.
Kinda of agree with you in that the mistake was not in trading Gay but the overall evaluation of talent for those drafts by CD...I justify the Battier transaction by really saying we traded Battier For Thabo S. since he would have been the pick in reality and honestly makes me feel better about the fact we have Shane not a Thabo who has not done much in his career.
Brian Cook again? Knowing DM is a master of draft picks, he should trade this cook for some picks or cook and barry for a player to have some spots open in the roster for the young guys.
Question. Didn't Les sign Morey to a three year contract? If thats true then his contract will end after this coming season. With that New yourk times article and the media hypeing him up, good luck to the rockets keeping him. I have a feeling when his contract is up, maybe the mavs will try to get him.
My favorite part of the interview (based on transcript) was: "Who will be playing at Center when Anderson is out of the game?" This friggin guy hasn't played a single minute of NBA ball and already he has been handed the starting job? This is ridiculous. The only sure-fire starters should be Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, and seeing as how they are out, the starting lineup should be wide open and all the players should know that. Carl Landry will be going into training camp trying to outplay Chuck Hayes, rather than try to steal the starting job from Scola. Brooks has nobody to challenge him. And don't forget Rick Adelman's classic promise to "feature" Trevor Ariza on offense...
Lol, look at the current Rockets roster and tell me who else is tall enough to play center. Take your time........................I will wait
Obviously the Rockets are intending Andersen to start, but if he struggles I wouldn't be shocked to see Hayes out there opening night.
Did you say 3 years? As in, didn't The Rockets only get into the 2nd round of the playoffs ONCE since he has been here? I mean, he does have an excellent track record though: 1-Trade Rudy Gay for Shane Battier. 2-Waived Kelenna Azubuike (averaging 14.5 and 5 reb on a 3 year $9 Million Dollar Contract). 3-Didn't Re-Sign Keith Bogans. 4-Fired Jeff Van Gundy. And he was working for The Celtics during the big collapse with Danny Ainge at the helm.
They played that lineup Lowry at the 1 and AB at the 2 last season. Lowry is clearly a better playmaker and AB is the better shooter and offensive player. Why not, either trust AB with some minutes at the 2 or go with a rookie 2 like JT, if Wafer is around he'll get minutes over the rookies also. Based on summer league the only guy that you may be able to depend on is Budinger, the other guys still have to show they deserve minutes.
Since when does height have anything to do with it? Especially when The Rockets nearly won against The Lakers with Chuck starting at Center.
you forgot #5, where he landed on Tmac's knee, twisted his shoulder, and then proceeded to take a hammer to Yao's foot...
You must be a career loser to be satisfied with "nearly winning" as opposed to be being a winner next time
Strange how three of your four listings happened while Morey was an assistant GM and the 4th was obviously mandated from on high since I doubt Morey could get a coach fired 8 days after landing a job.
Actually, Les Alexander is quoted as saying Morey had to convince him to trade that pick... “All I knew was Shane’s stats,” Alexander says, “and obviously they weren’t great. He had to sell me. It was hard for me to see it.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/magazine/15Battier-t.html?_r=1&ref=magazine&pagewanted=all
LOL ... I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark here and say you're a Kentucky fan, and not a Duke fan.
True. But your assertion that Morey was responsible for JVG's firing is purely dishonest use of semantics.
