If They traded Battier, it's Rockets officially in rebuilding mode.

Again with the youtube videos LOL......hey T-Mac1....notice since you're watching this, notice how everyone pretty much stands around when he has the ball, it's not from lack of Basketball IQ or effort, it's because when Tracy plays, no one knows what he's gonna do...is he gonna pass, pull up drive? It's hard to play TEAM ball with a guy like that for that reason.

Oh by the way..........we lost that 1st round series also

Just two trades happened with CD. Morey is here to fix our history and make sure he doesn't repeat CD's mistakes

No if we traded Battier, then Rockets are truly in a rebuilding "winning" mode

Haha, I cringe in shame everytime Battier blocks Kobe's face and Kobe still makes the shot. I think Kobe gets a hard on when he know he will playing against the Rockets, lol, time to destroy Battier and his "textbook" defense

Morey had his hands on the Battier trade even if he was just the assistant gm at the time. Battier is a moneyball type of player.

    Battier "was" a moneyball player

But you don't trade a Rudy Gay for a money player, especially not one who was "mr high school", "mr college", and then got to the NBA and became "mr team player"

You do if you want to get Stromile Swift's contract off of your hands. Again, we didn't trade Gay per say. We traded Thebo and Swift for Battier because Thebo is who we really gave up.

This means they want to get Lowry more minutes.

At times they will slide brooks to the 2 so we have more offense on the floor.

We did this at times last year depending on the match ups.

If we are truly running the read and react offense? Andersen will be spacing the floor, allowing a luxury of brooks/lowry/ariza slashing to the hoop.

Wow, McGrady is nowhere in the thread title and somehow this turned into a McGrady thread...interesting...

Anyways, for those who recapped, Thanks!

I wonder who Morey is looking to trade for and If he means AB will be starting at the 2. Wish the season would just start already.

You must be a very recent Rockets fan (I.e this season)

I've been watching since 2004......and I've def. seen McGrady post smaller guards before. Hell the last time we played Utah in the playoffs, he called for the ball in the post at least 10 times during the series.

Yes, they're planning on a 14 man roster because of LT and flexibilty for trade/s during the season.

i like shane cuz he's the teams motivator and leader off and on the court. remember we dont have dike anymore, shane is the most important spirit we have on the court at this moment.. we cant count on tracy and yao to motivate.. they cant even be self motivated themselvess let alone the team. and they are supposed the be the team leaders, thats part of the responsibility

Morey talking about Andersen: "Luis is excited he is on the team".

Morey: "There is going to be one wing rotation spot up for grabs... Whether that be filled by Von, James White, Chase Budinger, or Jermaine Taylor".

This arguement always bothers me... So the rockets were going to make a different mistake on their pick and pass on Gay and Jefferson respectively, so we should just over look those picks? The fact is both Gay and Jefferson were there for us to take, the fact that the GM wasn't considering either doesn't diminish the fact that he should have considered them and could have taken them without any trades or outside factors needed.

If the can't trade him in the off-season.

Morey's talking aout LT, not worth going over, and roster spots open to accomodate extra players in trade/s. If Rockets are aiming to get under LT and take on more players than they trade away the likeliest offering is McGrady.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have 14 people on the roster now, don't we?

    1. Trevor Ariza
    2. Brent Barry
    3. Shane Battier
    4. Aaron Brooks
    5. Brian Cook
    6. Joey Dorsey
    7. Chuck Hayes
    8. Carl Landry
    9. Kyle Lowry
    10. Tracy McGrady
    11. Luis Scola
    12. James White
    13. Yao Ming
    14. David Andersen

So what confuses me is the fact that right now we only have a single roster spot open, but Morey claims he wants to leave a roster spot open regardless. At the same time, he says that one of the rookies may have a chance to crack the rotation, but also mentions he may sign Wafer is given the right conditions, which would force all of the rookies we have rights to to go play overseas, wouldn't it?

The roster management really confuses me.

He said in the interview that mcgrady is in the plans for next years team. Alot of his statements backed this. He said there will be be one spot open at the 2 which will be determined by a preseason battle between jt, chase, white. So unless morey trades mcgrady for a 2 straight up(which is unlikely), i don't see any one else on the team who can play heavy minutes at the 2 other than McGrady.

    1. Morey doesn't want to add more salary because of LT.

    2. They want leave roster spots open to accomodate extra players they might get if they make a trade. E.g, McGrady for Player X + Player Y
