James Harden is a complete type player, and he wants one either this season, or over the off season, mentions we are youngest team, but we need players like Harden playing the game, playing hard, making plays on both ends, or whatever your duty is...he left everything open ended when speaking of future trades like usual...
nothing interesting except he was asked about getting another impact player and said he hopes one of the young guys can step up and be that guy my question to the Rockets organization is one: When will McHale let Terrence Jones play 1 minute???
Represented himself and the Rockets well. Morey is a crafty one. He knows how today's NBA works. Superstars dictate where they want to play nowadays, contracts be damned. Morey has basically shouted on a mountain top that we have max cap room, are the youngest competitive team in the league, and he's actively looking to make a deal. It's only a matter of time before another superstar gets snagged in Morey's trap.
To me it sounded more like we don't necessarily need one this season or in the offseason. He said that we have James for the next 6 years, and we're going to be patient (sound familiar?). I got the impression that he isn't going to sign a guy like J Smith to a max deal just because we have the cap room.
Asked about what made Harden seem like a foundation player, Morey responded about his stats when Durant and Westbrook were on the bench, Harden did better. Asked if he was freaked out by Lin's horrible preseason and asked what their expectations of Lin were for the season. Morey said Lin was just rusty, coming back from surgery, trying to build chemistry with his new teammates. Also said his expectations are for Lin to be solid and make the right plays. With Harden there, he doesn't need to carry the load. Asked if he had a favorite statistic to use when looking at players. Morey said basketball is too complex. If someone makes a jumper, was it because they're a good shooter, or was it because the defense was bad, the screen was good, the pass was good, or if they were just wide open? Too much to narrow down to just one stat. He did say he prefers players that cut and take it to the rim (probably for free throw attempts). Asked about adding another impact player and if he thinks it can be done by the trade deadline. Morey said he has Max cap space, we're the youngest team in the league, and we're also in the mix for the playoffs (which makes us an attractive destination). He said he would also like to see if our young rooks can turn into that impact player he's looking for. Also when asked whether he was still mad about the Gasol trade (we wouldn't have Harden if we got Gasol) he said the commissioner knows best lol.
McHale doesn't let people play minutes. Players earn minutes from McHale. Morris has earned the backup PF spot.
If Terrence Jones didn't earn any playing time from his preseason performances, I don't know how you get playing time as a rookie unless you are Chandler Parsons. Morris is total trash. You will soon understand.
