I'm surprised he isnt a skinny tall white guy this board compares to Nowitzki but turns into David Andersen 5.0
Its interesting to see more and more the skill set that Morey is looking for/ believes the nba is moving towards. Lots of versatile, box-filling players who posses ambiguous positions definitions.
Interesting prospect that Morey would love to get as a Euro-stash for a few years. Anyone on here saying his skill level is this or that, is out of their mind, and talking out of their A#$. Someone earlier mentioned that he more skilled than Nicholas Batum.... really.... because YOU know that from a grainy YouTube video where he is dunking over a 5'10" white kid. The truth is nobody really knows because of the level of play he is currently at. I mean the guy has just started his career in the Greek second division. Bismack Biyombo probably had information out there for scouts to evaluate going into the draft. That doesn't mean that NBA GM's wont pay attention to the rumors out there, and someone will snag him up in the 2nd round. However, I doubt anyone is viewing him as a sure thing lottery pick unless he comes to the US in May for workouts and just blows everyone away. Also looks like he might have a contract that doesn't end till 2017. Could be an interesting 2nd round Euro-Stash at best. However, Morey hasn't had much luck many of those in the past. If there is a quality player at the 1 - 3 or a true 5 that is NBA ready, he might be better off picking that player in this years draft.
Strange, considering most players in Europe are listed barefoot, and that most European NBA draft picks magically grow 2 inches on draft day.
The Nigerian spelling is indeed Adetokunbo. The official proper Greek spelling (and his actual real legal name) is Antetokoumpo. The player himself though chooses to spell it Adetokoubo, since that is more how the name is pronounced. Evidently, NBA uses the spelling of the names players choose, and not the legal name. Anyway, The recent rumors are that Adetokoubo has been invited to play at the Nike Hoops Summit, although that has not been confirmed yet.
http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2013/03/27/greek-freak-610-pg-draws-nba-execs-to-athens/ Greek Freak, 6-10 PG, Draws NBA Execs to Athens Meet Giannis Antetokoumpo, a 6-10 point guard who already has signed to play professionally next season for Zaragoza in Spain. Yes, a 6-10 point guard, a Greek freak of Nigerian heritage who could end up being a first-round draft pick after putting on quite a show in the Greek national junior tournament attended by Bryan Colangelo of the Toronto Raptors and Masai Ujiri of the Denver Nuggets. Antetokoumpo had 33 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the junior club Filathlitikos into the finals against Panathinaikos’ junior team. It was a breakout performance from the child prodigy, who reportedly grew up living illegally in Greece his entire life after his mother emigrated from Nigeria. His 20-year-old brother, Thannasis, a 6-foot-7 small forward, also is considered an NBA prospect. Oklahoma City’s Sam Presti and Houston’s Daryl Morey, among others, also have been to Athens to scout Antetokoumpo, whose contract with Zaragoza is said to contain an affordable buyout clause.
The way he can pass and get to the rim reminds me alot of KD. He needs to work on his shot though, its pretty darn ugly. If he can do that and also put on some weight, I mean he is only 18 its highly likely that he will fill out as he gets older, if he can do that I think he will be a pretty good player in the NBA.
Kid seems legit, but we have damn near ZERO shot at him. I can understand Morey doing his due diligence as a GM, but unless the Rox can snag a pick within the top 20, this cat will not be a Rocket. ....I guess we all can dream
If he turnsout as good as a prime tmac minus the injuries and with balls, he could be a monster. no wonder all the scouts and GM's are all over him. Tmac in his prime would be the second best player after LBJ in todays game hence why this kid will be snapped up before we can blink unless Morey works his magic.
Here is a view on Adetokoubo from the manager of a Spanish League team. http://www.tubasket.com/noticia/lig...mo-espuma-previsiones-draft-top-10/2947083/84 Some points made: He is like Batum on offense and Sefolosha on defense, only better athletically. He has grown 3 inches in the last last 10 months. That even at 6-9 with a 7-3 wingspan, he can play as a point guard. There are few talents like him.
NBA Draft Room lists him as a taller Scottie Pippen for his comparison. But they have him going at #6. So he's starting to get out of the Rockets draft range now. http://nbadraftroom2.blogspot.com/p/2013-nba-mock-draft.html
Physically reminds me of KD but impossible to judge just base on that clip. What I'm more interested in is his team's winning record. This will be very telling of what kind of player he is.
I don't know if it's true or not. But some reports say that NBA teams are measuring him at 6'10" with a 7'4" wingspan.
