Hah, the crass interview in question was significant enough to make it onto Yahoo! Sports. Suck it Innes, you worthless sack. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/rockets-gm-daryl-morey-radio-host-sarcastically-probably-172316260--nba.html p.s. That Frank Caliendo segment someone posted was comedy gold. Innes is such a db; needs to be pulled off the air. He acts like a high school girl and is an embarrassment to this city.
For anyone who missed it. http://houston.cbslocal.com/?podcas...=true&config_file=config.xml&dcid=CBS.HOUSTON After listening, Morey actually throws the 1st punch.
You can't pay me to listen to 610 podcast, those guys are terrible. I would rather not give them the pleasure of getting my click on their website.
Josh Innies should not have his own show. The guy needs to go back and be an intern somewhere to learn how to conduct a proper interview. Epic fail on Innes..... he got punked by Morey.
Meh, I usually listen to Charlie on the way home. Mostly because I want to hear sports talk rather than... well... 610.
I guess Clutch has to be nice to other media but I wish he would just IP ban SR610 again. that was great. These 610 trolls are getting annoying. "Hi I only have 30 posts but 610 is the greatest and Morey is teh suck!"
Let's call it as it is. Josh Innes has some talent, but dude just don't know how to control himself. He says stuff like " my wiener is four inches long!" And he's definitely sports knowledgeable as he should be. Instead of researching the Rockets and their progress in The summer league, he chooses the lazy route and regirgitates the national media with his own off the wall spin on it. There are worse hosts on the airwaves, but he definitely needs to step up his game, because his style with no real content will wear out.
Can't believe all the Morey apologists around here. HE provoked Innes. Innes responded. Surely Morey knew what he was getting himself into, being a boy wonder at all. Have we really forgotten that Morey was about to build this team around PAU FREAKIN' GASOL? Where's the genius in that? As someone stated, Stern saved Morey a great deal of trouble when he nixed that trade. And yes, I've also read/heard that Morey's reputation around the league is not favorable. He treats players as "assets" and is cold and manipulative with his dealings. Some may call that smart. Just look at the results. Nada. Morey seems like someone who drinks his own kool-aid and tends to outsmart himself. He whiffed on Chris Bosh. He whiffed on Deron Williams. He whiffed on Goran Dragic. It's likely he's gonna whiff on Dwight Howard. As someone also stated earlier before, "Don't mistake activity for achievement." Innes was correct in his analysis, and Morey was laughable trying to pinpoint titles from 17 years ago and a top defense that hasn't been so since 2009 as key factors that make the organization attractive. Give me a break. Who's he fooling? Innes may be a douche. I don't know. I don't listen to him. But judging by that interview alone, he was right on. Morey baited him and Innes bit. Innes was out of line to question about Morey's job security, but by that point it was in the heat of the moment. It was game on well before that point, initiated by Morey. I'm glad Rich and Josh weren't buying his crap. No one else does.
So for anyone who listened to it, what did Morey say to provoke the radio guy? Edit: Just read the Yahoo! blurb about it, above. Nevermind.
^ To be fair the " building around gasol" part isn't accurate. We don't know what else was going to happen had that trade went through, e.g nene possibly. Just saying, objectively, there was no real way to know how the dominos were going to fall had that happened. That being said, I wasn't a big fan of the gasol trade to begin with. As for the whiffs of bosh and deron...well all a GM can do is try. If the player doesn't want to sign here and then thats hardly a fault of a GM.
Reading twitter it seems Morey was aware 610 was talking how he has failed and came on to answer tough questions in line with their comments. When they just asked softballs and nothing in line with their non interview comments (like he has failed, will be fired soon, and will have to kidnap a free agent before they come here) he was just saying he is excited to answer the tougher questions.
Thanks. It seems like Morey's intention was to fire back. I sympathize with him some, but arguing that Houston is an attractive place for stars or that 29 out of 30 teams have as much reason to be disappointed in their lack of success as we do is just plain dumb. Its insulting, really, that he'd expect fans to buy that.
Seems Morey was already annoyed at Innes' prior statements (including something about having to use roofies (the date rape drug) to get players to Houston) and was going at him since the beginning of the interview. You can tell Morey didn't want to talk to Innes.
