I feel like a jerk for saying that. Jones is a great compliment to Lamb and White. You've got a scorer, a creator and a guy that does the dirty work. The draft was a success the more I think about it. Okay, back to being a jerk.
too late graham. your post has been reported to the cyberpolice and your account will be banned shortly.
Hard to believe he said this, as it is a horrible analogy. For one, winning more than you lose doesn't equate to beating your peers. Cause you can have more than 16 teams win more than they lose. Last year, 17 teams won more than they lost. It is usually around half and half, though, so I can let that slide. The real issue is that it is a league where as noted half of the teams win more than they lose. If 50% of all fund managers out there beat the S&P 500, and you're one of those 50%, but one of the worst of those 50%, that's not something to brag about. "Hey, we were better than those schmucks!" I know DM knows that, just thought it was stupid to write.
You completely misunderstood what he said. He's saying that in this league only 1/30 can win. In other places (like money managers) you can say above .500 is good. But not in the NBA; thus risks must be taken (and continued to be taken) and playing it safe cannot be allowed, precisely because being slightly above 50% is NOT good. How did you take away the completely opposite point?
pretty uneventful. i believe the most interesting thing that he mentions is that his hiring of mchale was heavily influenced by his great leadership ability over his bball x's and o's.
