Not sure if that's recent, but what do you expect? He's never going to say they suck..not sure any GM would, seriously anyway. That would end the trust w/ future players.

Sort of, it is about recognizing talent and keeping it.

Yeah, the point of the OP was about whether things have changed since the trade deadline to change Morey's outlook. I expect most posters in the thread would just blast Morey for saying those things in hindsight.

Assuming Morey was telling his true feeling (a big assumption), things have not changed. We are still what we were. If Morey genuinely thought we would have turned around came playoffs time, he now knows that he was dead wrong and "this group" doesn't make him feel good.

Firing Adelman remains the "Gold Standard" of Morey's ineptitude.

I don't remember why we cut Livingston. He was a guy at the time that I actually would have liked to keep. He's not too special at all, and he's only getting recognition because he's playing with the Warriors and they're vastly outplaying the entire league but I did acknowledge that he was a 6 foot 7 point guard with a smooth jumper that could present match up problems in small doses over other point guards. Livingston isn't that great, but he gets the job done in Golden State and he should because you have to be a reaaaaaal bad player to fail in that position when your number is called.

Demarre Carroll has greatly regressed though since signing with the Raptors. Carroll is vastly overpaid and doesn't do much. His production has been replaced by Kent Bazemore on the Hawks. Bazemore is someone who the Warriors let go. I honestly think Warriors made a slight mistake letting go Bazemore because he could almost easily replicate what Harrison Barnes does so they wouldn't even have to worry about Barnes impeding free agency.

Other undiscovered talent that Morey has let go hasn't really made a difference anywhere or have gone overseas. There are only 3 other guys I can think of that somewhat are talented that were let go that have shown to be able to make a slight difference. Jeremy Lin who is a solid off the bench guard but that is prone to making mistakes. Ishmael Smith that isn't too talented of a guard, but has shown ability to handle the ball in small doses similar to Pablo Prigioni. Robert Covington was given a chance, and I believe he is another guy who could easily replace Harrison Barnes production, but at the time Rob wasn't someone we needed because he wasn't producing.

Maybe Cole Aldrich as well. DD isn't too good at evaluating talent though. Just has a big mouth and he believes everything he says. Some things true.. other things not even close.

Can you imagine James harden, Dmo, Dwight under an adelman offense? We would be getting so many easy shots.

You know, he's had some big misses, but I looked back at the old Steph Curry thread and he wanted us to draft him. Thought he was obvious NBA-ready talent where some others had doubts.

Sorry Batman, I am not the GM - that is his job, not mine. All we can do is examine the record, and make judgments based off of that. DM's record of talent evaluation has been choppy at best.

You just described every single poster on this BBS. Well done. :)

So... alot or most of these moves tie into the Harden trade. If you say we shoulda kept this guy you are eliminating the moves leading up to, and during the Harden trade.

For instance - you use the Livingston situation, but you refuse to note at the same time that the day Livingston was waived was the same day the Harden extension was executed. Had the Rockets not waived Livingston, they wouldn't have the ability to do so with the contracts the Rockets took back in the deal that was a big part of executing the deal.

You seem to be obsessed with "we let go of a good player" but continue to refuse to involve circumstance. It totally throws away any ability to assume that we are going to have constructive dialog if we really do want to scrutinize this situation.
