give me some of whatever Milicic is smokin!! The guy has done NOTHING to prove he even belongs in the league, yet alone worth 60 million.
Dear Darko, You're doing the right thing asking for what you feel you are worth. After all, only you are the expert on what you are worth. Don't take anything less! Sincerley, Latrell Sprewell Bonzi Wells
Darko's been said to be lazy - first symtoms the of likes of Moochie or Maurice Taylor. Hungry > Talent.
If Darko can get $60 mil, then I'm convinced I can sign for the league minimum somewhere. I'd be a bargain.
He can ask for whatever he wants. If he thinks there's even a remote chance at $60m, why not ask for it? Maybe somebody will be stupid enough to jump at it (see also: Nuggets, Denver) Nene has showed nothing in his three year career, he missed an entire season with a torn ACL, and he then got a $60m extension. Darko has at least as much upside as that guy.
There is ALWAYS a stupid GM out there that will pay that kind of money to a scrub. He's 7 feet tall and he's young. Trust me, he'll get paid.
I watched some of his game on League pass last nite. He did a couple of good things and several bonehead things, and often looked clumsy/bad footwork etc and, yes, he'll be 'paid'. Because he is tall (in a new faster small ball league). A full MLE will be high yet much less than he'll sign for. Oh, how I wish I were a 7' tall 20 something year old. Oh, how I wish I were a 20 something year old. Oh, how I wish...
I don't think it is that over-priced if you look at Nene can get 60 mil out of Denver even when he is not playing much games. Darko has some good potentials to be a star. He is a big man as well. Usually they get over-paid a lot.
The sad, tear jerking reality is that my wishes are becoming fewer and more prosaic as I grow older and fatter and ever so much more tired. So, I morph my wish into 'I wish my son had grown another 8-9" and had the consummate skills (tall, white, gawky) to earn a McIlvaine-esque NBA contract.'
Nene getting an insane 60mm contract does not alter the over-pricedness of his contract or Darko's 'demand'.
