Even if Francis was dealt, Arroyo wouldn't start..

They will keep him because his contract is expiring. They're not going to save money buying him out. Besides that, he's insurance as another big body to use against Shaq in the event Dale Davis goes down. Now, they may trade him if they feel they can get something better for him but I can't imagine why they would outright cut him. If you remember, Cato was one of the defenders that gave Shaq the most trouble. He's great insurance. I can't imagine what he'd bring in a trade besides a bust of a No. 1 pick and a backup pg whom 2 highly disciplined coaches didn't care for. So, I suppose they may be able to get Kwame and ???????, wait LA doesn't have a selfish backup PG, do they?

The most important factor in this deal is the pick. Is it this year's or next year's or 2008? Lottery protected or top 3 protected?

that will probably be a very good pick. there going to be a very young team it looks like.

although howard will be even more scary good by then. the dude is leading the NBA in rebounding and should be soph. in college.

he totally blew the pick but detroit has been one of the two best teams in the league for the last 3 years running so it's not hurting them any.

Congrats to Cato for being on a hell of a team. He has a good chance to get himself a ring.

Wow, he is the 1st GM to blow a pick, a high pick. Sounds like he recovered well enough with this deal -- and a couple of reasonably successful years. BTW - in Detroit, who would you like better, Prince or Melo? In Detroit, I said.

Plus parlaying one preseason game into a hell of a contract.

So how does that McGrady trade look for the Magic now?

that's the first good move after the trade for the magic involving any of the players they received. cato actually would do well for the magic if healthy because they have howard but he doesn't stay healthy.

    yep.
keeping cato this year will help the team resign ben since cato's contract expires after this year.

the pick is top 5 protected.
could be a great trade for the pistons.

Frankly The magic have given themself a great chance to rebuild.

They now have Darko, Dwight Howard,Jameer Nelson, Grant Hill ( for 1 year), Hedo

Arroyo is not a bad PG

Their Pick this year could be in the top 5. ( they had a pick last year that did not join!)

Once they get Grant Hill's contract off the books they can sign some decent Free Agents and round up the team.

Who knows -Stevie's trade ( which is more or less going to happen) could bring them some more talent/Picks!!!!!!!!!!
