I guess some of us don't know much about Ruben Patterson's past, but it ain't good. Some pretty bad bad stuff. In no way shape or form should he be here just because he's fed up with Portland.
Grgurich should just leave them after the season and go somewhere. What a complete waste for him to be in Portland. If there is such a thing as a cursed franchise, it be the Blazers.

miles is the anti-lebron. alot of hype but boy does he suck. the thing that i don't get is i still see his jersey everywhere and someone in one of these threads mentioned he's their favorite player. what's the appeal? that little gay ass head thing he does with his hands after he scores a basket and his team is down thirty?

"Taking the best headcase Available" - the sports guy talking about the draft with his father on the Trailblazer's Draft Position.

I think there is some sort of dark cloud hanging over Portland.

How much of a malcontent was Miles before he came to Portland We didnt hear a peep from him in LA or Cleveland? How has Rasheed and Bonzi acted now that they are out of Portland? Solid play and pretty good behavior in Detroit and Memphis.

I dont know what it is about Portland, somehow everyone there is an enabler and thus it causes more problems. But when players leave and get into healthy franchises they tend to do well.

Portland needs an enema! Just flush everything out and start fresh with ALL character guys, strong leadership at the GM and coaching spots and go from there.

And I agree with DD about Patterson. His style of game is exactly the type of player that would fit well on the Rockets in terms of being a backup SF. He is gritty, plays good defense and plays with a lot of energy.

But Patterson has some SERIOUS baggage and a very checkered past so those factors really work against him and that might be enough for the Rockets to not want to trade for him.

As for Eric Williams, another player similar to Patterson that I would love to have on the Rockets. A little bit older than Patterson but no baggage.

And his 6 million dollar salary - the guy is trade pariah. Neither the rockets nor any team would be stupid enough to trade for Patterson, who has been on the block for 4 years - except when he becomes an expiring contract in 2007.

    Backup?

Nah, one would start at the 2 and the other at the 3.

    Move Wesley to the bench.

portland is so F'd up it's ridiculous. like Deuce said, it's almost like you go there and you have to become a headcase, a malcontent, and a criminal. and when that fails, they just pick up someone who already fits the profile. wasn't qyntel woods the guy with the dog situation? it's as if trouble just gravitates to portland.

and then when the guys leave the problems stop.

has travis outlaw managed to do anything crazy yet?

the guy i feel really bad for (well as bad as i can for someone making $15M) is shareef. he seems like a good guy who plays hard and well and yet he cannot get in a non-crappy situation. from the depths of losing in vancouver to the depths of craziness in portland. this guy needs to make a wise decision on where he signs his next contract.

He can't bring the ball up court, like Wesley, and can't shoot from outside, like Wesley - he shoots three's at a .043.

That's not a typo. He shoots 4% better than a dead man

Additionally, he probably have trouble against quicker 2's - forcing Tracy to work overtime and reverting us back to what we where prior to the Jim Jackson trade - Tracy running ragged by having to basically do everything at the 2 spot and sucking as a result.

He's a one dimensional player (defense) who makes 6 million a year and has a rape conviction on his record.

This is why every single team in the NBA has passed on him. You'd take him, but then agaiin if you were the GM, we'd have a starting 5 of Patterson, Yao, McGrady, Nachbar, and Eddie Griffin.
