For Christ sake Ennis! Now is your chance to get back into the groove of things and you cut yourself at home?!?
    Haha.
I honestly thought this guy would fit in perfectly, as in, be better than Ariza in time.

Your opinion and one that apparently isn't shared by the vast majority of NBA insiders, coaches and players.

The CP3 deal doesn't get done without Harden signing on for it - you think you know more about what it takes to win in the NBA than James Harden, Darryl Morey AND Mike D'Antoni?

There is a chance for anything, after all, House is just a fill in.

If Ennis will be playing at a much better level, or Clark could find his shot, or even another fill in may not be that bad after all, House may not get a playoff roster spot and just let him rot in the G league.

He played decent in the last 12-15 games, but his name is not James Harden.

I hope Clark has been working on his 3 point shot.

I do not understand. So with a super large payroll and a $2 billion dollar basketball team we cd lose House over a couple of million? Not to compare them, but it makes me think of poor Oklahoma City who lost Harden over a couple of million. OKC would have been in the Western Conference Finals or the Championshio for at least 8 of the last ten years.

There is one thing I don't quite understand.

What is the purpose to keep Melo in the rosters at this point of the season?

Using him a a trade asset? seriously who the fork will want to trade for him? and won't Melo feel that using him as any kind of chips in this stage is actually an insult to himself?

Maybe Morey can save a buck or 50 cents for his boss if there is a deal to be made but what is the logic from Melo's side to stick with a team that clearly told him to fork off?

Its not just about this year, Morey obviously wants a long term minimum deal but House agent will only agree to 1, which is this year and then they are confident that they can shop for a better offer, hence the rejection of the offer.

So if his agent will give a counter offer to Morey about 3 years contract but not at minimum but close to 4-5 mils per, Morey will be a dumb ass (even without the tax) to even consider it for a second.

Look at our roster. It's not just, "well, Ennis might start playing better. Or Clark. Or Isaiah. Or Nene. Or Chriss. Or Knight" They ALL have to start playing better or traded for better.

Why would you deny the importance of playoff exposure to a young player you've been developing that just outplayed the whole bench for over a month in a key stretch of the season, against major competition.

"Oh, let him just rot. Where's my pistol, so I can shoot myself in the foot by not developing players."

If the Rockets waive Melo, they are still on the hook for his entire salary. So waiving him doesn't help them with payroll flexibility.

If they buy him out, he has to agree to some reduced compensation. Players will do this if they believe they can immediately hook up with another team and earn the same or more money than they are losing in the buyout. Melo understands that no one wants to pay him more than he is already making with the Rockets to come play with them, so that's not an option.

In trades, the Rockets need to be able to match salary. They have very limited assets to pull off trades. Keeping Melo on the roster gives them more flexibility in terms of being able to match up on various trade scenarios.

So Morey is hanging on to him because there is no benefit in waiving him, no likelihood of negotiating a buyout and potential upside in the trade market.

That's my understanding of what's going on - but maybe someone more knowledgeable has better insights into this.

CP3 deal was a big mistake that is only going to get bigger with time. The guy can't make it through the playoffs and the injury was an "old man" injury rather than a freak accident. So you pay him $160 million knowing he's getting older and hoping for a better result?

It looks even worse now with Harden being more dominant than expected. Maybe at the time of the trade, you can argue that Harden wasn't enough to take us all the way and that we needed another star. Based on what we've seen this year, Harden surrounded by good role players would be enough. we actually ended up losing the Chris Paul trade in the long run.

I totally agree that Morey could offer him a minimum deal in the summer to make him a RFA.

But for the playoff? If he is the key hope for our playoff run at that time and Morey must convert his contract to keep him in the roster, I don't think our chance to win anything is greater than whatever we have now.
