Am I one of the few ones who doesn't think this is going to work out? THe Knicks are a total mess as a team. I'm surprised somebody took that coaching job.

I can agree with you that that all Knick players are not untradeable, and perhaps they will be able to execute a trade. However, I believe that Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry are unmovable. And one could argue that this is the primary change that needs to occur this off-season - this duo needs to be broken up. And while the list of reasons to reject a trade for Zach Randolph are long, the list of reasons for Eddy Curry are just as long (overpaid, long-term contract, heart condition, lack of defense, significant decrease in stats last season, etc.)

I disagree. I am no fan of Randolph or Curry but those two guys will get some GM in the league to take a chance on them. The Knicks will get pennies to the dollar on talent but they can be moved. The Knicks are going to get better next season and will be players in free agency for one of the youngsters that can opt out in the near future (LeBron, Wade, Bosh etc.).

It'll take 3 full years to clear the Knicks of their horrible salary situation. I do not expect D'Antoni and Walsh to be anything but mediocre and struggling to make the 7th or 8th seed in the East for this time period.

i find the signing to be bizarre, the bulls would be a much better fit, nevertheless it could make the trading environment interesting with Walsh wanting to get cap space for a LBJ run and DAntoni will want to clear most of the roster to fit his style.....

also gotta to wonder if Nash stays in Phoenix or if they completely rebuild around Amare and Barbosa

I agree with most that it appears most of the current Knick roster doesn't seem to fit D's system...That being said, unless there are major overhauls, what good will it be for D to be there...something else has to be happening...

Mike D'Antoni is high quality coach. But he must make some changes on roster.

    Nice signing by the Knicks.

Ya Randolph, marbury dont fit the system but that doesnt mattter this move was made for players they get in the next couple years..

It doesnt matter who they brought in to coach their current roster they might be an 8th seed in a "dream" season...

    Going to take some time.

In regards to some of the current NY players not fitting in with the style/philosophy of D'Antoni...............where do those players fit in?

    Marbury
Excluding a salary dump scenario, what NBA team has a Style - Philosophy that suits him?

    Curry
Quality centers are in demand, but he isn't a quality center. Roughly a decade younger than Shaq, but he already seems to be breaking down. No idea what team would be interested in Curry.

    Zach
Will probably be making around 14 million next season and not sure what team would be interested in him. Portland was fortunate to have Zeke take Randolph. Not sure that Walsh will be that fortunate to find somebody to take Zach.

Mike D will quit before the Knicks make the playoffs. I think his system is junk without a Nash type PG and some great athletes and shooters.

His system can turn a 54 win team to a 60 win team but it won't work in hellhole known as NY. It's all smoke and mirrors unless you have loads of talent.

Mark Jackson should have been given a shot.

Mike D'antoni wants Leandro Barbosa and Boris Diaw. New York will play run and gun.
