THIS You're stats don't mean **** if they don't result in wins Granger would be a great supplemental piece to the group of Yao, Scola, Martin, and Brooks. But giving up any of them plus extra for him would at best be a lateral move, and more than likely a negative one. I would gladly give them both knicks probable lottery picks in combination with young talent like Hill, Patterson, Lull or even Bud as well as expiring contracts. But giiving up any part of the core of this team to get him would be useless.
That doesn't mean he is not a very good player. Bosh was on a team that went 33-49 just a year ago and i think most people would agree that he is a pretty good player. We don't need Granger to be a superstar which just need him to play at a consistent all star level which I think he can especially with Martin and Yao on the court with him. However, I will say that if AB can play as well as he did last year with Yao on the court we probably won't need Granger.
Wait, what? I thought we would be trading Brooks to acquire a Superstar, not just another really good player. Well, then PASS for sure....unless it is just for a couple of wings and some draft picks. DD
I believe you are attaching a different meaning to superstar than I am. There are superstars, allstars, and good players. To me a superstar is a player that can lead your team to a championship being the best player. I think there are only about 10 players of that caliber in the league give or take a few. I don't think Bosh is a superstar but I would have been willing to give up Brooks to get him.
I find it hard to believe that if Miami called up Morey right now and said Bosh for Brooks Morey would turn it down. Brooks is a good player and I hope he turns out to be as good you think he is but you are highly over valuing him if you wouldn't give him up to get Bosh
I would love to build a team around granger. I feel like he is the next big burgeoning superstar; such a complete package!
Pathetic response to an excellent player. Bob McAdoo 22-60 Dikembe Mutombo 26-56 Kobe Bryant 33-49 Elgin Baylor 28-54 etc, etc, etc...
Basketball cliches have all but destroyed any good basketball discussion. Everytime I hear such and such is a batman or robin, he is soft, injury prone, etc. etc. it makes my skull bleed. My absolute favorite is "he can't even lead his team to the playoffs".
32-50? Who do the Pacers have besides Granger? Murphy is horrible, no defense. Hibbert is there only player.
Well, I got all the WoJ reports about who was being offered, and Feigen reporting the same, what you got? DD
Exactly. A starting lineup of Brooks, Martin, Scola, Granger and Yao would be spectacular. But giving up any one of the core players would make the trade pointless. Giving them the picks and young talent for a player like Granger is a no-brainer. The problem is, they need a point guard. Despite all the assets the Rockets have to work with, that's one thing we can't offer them.
I just can't see this organization trading AB a couple of months after they sent him to the draft lottery as the face of the organization. Of course, Franchise got traded after he lucked us into Yao, so what do I know.
I'd give them lowry, if they wanted to take his contract, he deserves a starting role imo and is a more classic pg than brooks, and it would probably be good PR for future players (especially given Morey's general view of being an asset and not a people person), obviously there would need to more with matching contracts (lowry, ariza + knicks 2012?) Tbh though, i'd imagine new orleans would be the most likely candidate as Collison would probably be real good for them and Granger would likely cheer Paul up some.
