This is a good week to work in Noaln at Safety, Gabbert has been atrocious and limited to dink-dink-dink passing. Few teams are worse at hitting the home run ball. 4 is the bare minimum and not very realistic. The Terrell Owens Miracle Super Bowl Comeback from a fractured fibula was 7 weeks. I'm hoping he can return for the Dec 18th game against the Panthers.
i would expect 8 weeks or so. For 4 - 5 weeks he's just going to be healing. Then you would start to see him even begin to put any stress back on it and I would expect that to be another couple/3 weeks for ramping up workouts.
That's what I thought too, but I've heard reports that state as long as 10 weeks... and from what I've been hearing -- it will probably be closer to 10 than 4. If its longer than 4 we're in trouble... unless Philips pulls off a miracle.
I don't think Sharper will ever play again. He worked out for the Broncos in September and didn't get signed. Here's what PFT said about him.. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/21/155966/ Demps is someone who is already familiar with the playbook and is infinitely times better than Shiloh Keo
Looking at the schedule: Definitely Out For: Jags (worst passing offense* in the NFL) Browns (#22 passing offense) @ TB (#14) Likely Out For: @ JAX (worst) Falcons (#19) Possibly Out For: @ CIN (#20) Panthers (#5 Passing ypg) Possibly Back For: @ IND (#27 passing offense) Titans (#12 Passing ypg) * passing ypg Cincinnati, Carolina, and Tennessee are the only teams left that could be considered decent throwing the ball this year. Atlanta is curiously poor through the air this season. Honestly, if we had to be bit with an injury to Manning, this wasn't a horrible time for it. He's got time to get back before January, and Nolan gets to develop in game situations against teams that shouldn't be able to roast us (Peyton gone, Saints already behind us). Even Cam Newton's come down to earth some. After starting with two 400-yd games, he's thrown for about 240 the last three weeks, with 3 TDs to 4 INTs.
Trindon Holliday was cut to make room for Demps. I assume that means Demps or McManis will return kicks.
espn_afcsouth Paul Kuharsky #Texans cut returner/WR Trindon Holliday, sign S/returner Quintin Demps. NickScurfield Nick Scurfield Texans' kick returners are now CB Sherrick McManis (kickoffs) & Jacoby Jones (punts). Demps a backup at both spots
Safety Chris Harris of the Bears was just released today. Might be a decent pick up to improve the depth of the position while waiting on Manning to return. Though there are conflicting reports about a hamstring injury, which, if true, he should be avoided.
Manning returned to practice today, could start Sunday according to Pancakes. https://twitter.com/#!/McClain_on_NFL/status/138678431503237120
That would be STUNNING. WAY ahead of schedule, even if he doesn't start. And I'd rather they not start him his first week back. Work him in behind Nolan and make sure he gets his timing back. I can't believe a four week layoff wouldn't at least effect his conditioning and burst.
