Assuming he rehabs well and has his strength back, I think they tag him to see what he can do in a full season (or if he can last a full season). My big worry is that he doesn't rehab fast enough, and that the Texans sign him to a lengthy contract under the assumption he gets to 100% after a weak first year back. Dqwell Jackson on the Browns rushed his return after a pec tear, and tore his other one. It took him 2 years to get back to form. Dummervil tore his, and it's very possible his current shoulder problem is related to the tear.
Like I said earlier, I think Kareem might be somewhat serviceable if we move him to safety and start Allen at CB. Have Harris backup Allen and McCain backup Kareem.
I'm very encouraged that the injury is a nondisplacement fracture in the fibula, and that Manning already has had surgery on it. The immediacy of the surgery is a great sign that he expects to get back on the field....and I think he's got a good chance of doing so before Christmas. I'm happy that we've got Nolan to step in, I really think that with more playing time he'll come into his own. Coverage instincts have to be honed. Really hope Keo stays on the bench, unless they want him for run or blitz support.
my guess is the decision might be different were he not a pro athlete getting paid millions to play a game.
Yeah, I hear ya Max, they probably did what will get him back on the field the fastest way possible. The point still stands though, doctors seem to operate a lot more quickly these days... DD
AJ just had surgery on a hamstring that wasn't ruptured. These are surgeries to cut the healing time in half for pro athletes, paid for by the franchise. It's got nothing in the world to do with the state of public healthcare today. The payer and teams are the one asking for these operations, not the docs.
Yep, I guess medicine has just come a lot further now, and they can fix things more quickly by operating. DD
RandyMcIlvoy Randy McIlvoy @local2sports has leanred: #texans will re-sign safety Quentin Demps . Has to pass his physical this afternoon. #hounews
Not exactly the splash I was hoping for. Does he eventually start? It looks like Manning will miss at least 8 weeks. That's a long time. Really wanted to at least try Sharper.
Troy Nolan is starting, Demps will be backup. No way Demps ends up starting unless we get more injuries.
Troy will start. Demps sees like a replacement to prevent Keo from being out there. I'm surprised Demps never picked up anywhere else. He wasnt great but he wasnt that bad either
All I remember about Demps is dropped interception after interception. Hope he works out this time around
He's just an insurance policy, probably won't play a whole lot. Nolan is the man until further notice.
I don't remember this demps ever playing for us. I do remember the other demps, the male model that moonlighted as a safety.
I guess I was thinking W. Demps for some reason, maybe the re-sign part of the post. oh well I hope this guy works out too!
