Would love to go after Darren Sharper. His main problem in recent years has been injuries, which is understandable given his age... but he's still a ballhawk when healthy and has a very high football IQ. If he's still in game shape, I think he's a guy who could come in on Tuesday and be ready to play by the next Sunday. Probably wouldn't last the season before getting hurt, but for a short-term stopgap...
Yeah, single to left, no one covering 2nd base so I kept going, the left fielder tried to be a hero and run me down, as I was coming up from my slide his leg kicked mine and broke it. DD
He was. Like a few others (like Chris O), he was cut and then signed to the practice squad. Texans signed him back a week or two ago. And I agree - he's terrible. He's a poor man's box safety. I've got faith in Nolan as a stand in. Similar to how folks talk about Kareem getting through a learning curve, the same applies to Nolan - only he's shown far more promise and playmaking ability. I think he'll be fine under Vance Joseph's watch.
Right now he's the 29th ranked QB in the league. So... I'd say that's fairly accurate. He was way overhyped last year beating up on cupcakes.
He's been more than below average this year. Like Donny said, he was way overhyped last year. He played well and all, but the guy still has/had a lot of flaws that people seemed to ignore.
Alright, I'm ready for Sharper. With the way we pressure the QB and force bad passes, he'd be an asset. Get us some turnovers. Bring him in. I'd like to see him play WITH Manning for the playoff run.
Turns out Manning DID have surgery today, per Kubiak... out at least 4 weeks. No IR, optimistic he can come back this year. Was the fibula, he says.
Apparently Texans want to try Brandon Harris at safety. He can't be worse than Keo, so I'm all for it.
Texans are very close to cap. It would be very difficult for the Texans to sign a high profile player for much more than the minimum.
I got the shape, sadly. I don't have salary cap figures, but I know the Texans had to work some magic with numbers on three big contracts this off-season to barely fit in everyone. Magic involves using number tricks that take money from future years to pay current contracts. The Texans have to pay Mario and Foster after this year to keep them. I like Mario. I like Foster. I think it will be difficult to keep both of them as it is without doing more number tricks. This is not like the NBA was where Mark Cuban could wave a magic wand, lose some money to luxury tax, and presto he has a new shooting guard. The money in the NFL comes from future salary caps.
