I always thought they should keep Russel and try him with Steph and Klay for a year

the warriors are clearly trying to tank, wiggins is the worst contract in NBA right now, and this kid just doesn't have it, no IQ, skills are not improving, can't defend, i hope he sticks around GS, so that they will always have a hole in their lineup

I love it. Wiggins is a negative on a contender.

    Draymond going to love him.

They needed a FAT contract they could attach picks to as part of a plan to lure Giannis. If not Giannis, someone else. Warriors might have signed Nick Young. But they're not STUPID.

Again. They aren't the same. Barnes is actually a good defender that can guard 3-5. Wiggins is awful on defense.

never said they were the exact same. in theory he's just there barnes 2.0 as of now as far as role. anyone can say what they want about him. he's in an entirely different situation now and like the 4-5 best player rather than 2nd in minny.

KD was gone.. so really it was about (Iggy, 2024 top 4, a FRP to Brooklyn) for (Wiggins & Minnesota's 2021 protected)

You think gsw would have entertained a capela for Draymond trade?

But the problem is he's now the 3rd highest paid player. That will affect the dynamic. It will cause issues.

    Iggy
2020 top 20, or 2025 2nd round to BKN (so unless Warriors make a comeback LOL, this will be a 2nd rounder)
    2024 top 4, or top 1 2025, or unprotected 2026 to MEM
    Jacob Evans
Omari Spellman (traded Damien Jones and 2026 2nd round for him)

    for

    Wiggins
    2021 top 3, or 2022 1st
    2021 2nd round

Since that BKN pick turns into a 2nd rounder, it isn't THAT bad. Warriors are also avoid luxury/repeater taxes. So it's essentially Iggy + scrubs for Wiggins (UGH).

You do not really think Wiggins stays?

If Russell can't stay for a year, Wiggins is gone, somehow, if he isn't contributing much.

Confounding trade though, giving in to Minny, admittedly with Rosas at helm, but still.

    Couldn't rid themselves of Looney.

I guess if you pout long and loud enough, you get your wish in the nba.

No more excuses for that sasquatch of a bum.

This is a great deal for the Warriors. So many people are going to eat crow next season.

Warriors don't need Wiggins to perform like an All-Star to be successful. They already have Curry and Thompson. Wiggins only needs to perform Iggy's role as their wingman in that lineup and Warriors are back to championship contention next season.

Look at 36 year old Iggy's market value right now: $17 million this season and $15 million next year. Don't tell me at $27 million -- a 24 year old replacement is somehow a negative value.

Warriors won simply because they flipped Durant's departure into a great asset in D'Angelo and now have found a quality replacement for Iggy in the process.

    Curry
    Thompson
    Wiggins
    Draymond
    Wiseman (top 3 pick)

That would be an incredible retooling after having won 3 championships already. This is how dynasties are sustained. The rich got richer.

Poor KAT, he wasn't feeling the Convington trade now I'm sure he's spiraling down the emotional train.

Oh wow my common sense went out the door, I overlooked the fact that Wiggins already signed a 5 year max contract so he's due $25+ million per year.

Wow but they definitely swap for a player that can actually fit into their lineup once Curry and Thompson get healthy. If Green doesn't destroy the team he may help turn Wiggins into a more focused player. Not too shabby GSW, y'all definitely got something out of nothing from the gift that was KD.
    Y
definitely can't say the GSW owner doesn't want to win at all costs...
