Well Achebe, you out do yourself every time.

But, I've got to appreciate you digging this post up. Tanking is not the correct way to win. Clipper, Bulls, blah blah blah all do it. But who wins the Championhips year in and year out, the organizations that hold respect!!!!

Respect is something you earn not mold out of planning. The actions taken by teams form respect.

Someone mentioned Fizer...he'll go in the top 5, he's just too good...even if he is a tweener. Porter is interesting though.

If the Rockets had drafted right...and made the right trades they could have had Jordan, Hakeem, and Drexler on the same team...the whole time...REALLY!! Then I woke up to reality.

What top notch free agent would want to go to a team that tanks at the end of the season? All the good free agents want to go to a team with a future that plays hard. Tanking is not the answer...unless your the Spurs.

The idea of drafting Fizer terrifies me. I'm not QUITE so bold as to make a prediction, but I think he'll be a moderate disappointment.

Heyparter: you seem to be extremely ambivalent about Fizer. One moment, you criticize his boardwork and seem to want to stick w/KT, and the next you adore him. How good do you think Fizer really is? In an ideal world, where each player goes exactly according to his estimated ability level, what pick do you think he'd be?

Personally I see him as a 8-14 pick. He doesn't have the shooting touch, footwork, rebounding ability, or size to go any higher.
If you want slightly lesser version of Corliss Williamson, go for him, by all means.

I would love the idea of getting Fizer with our first round pick, but unless we hit the lotery (top 3 pick), you can forget about it. Any player somewhere in between the talent of Barkley and Corliss would tremendously improve our team. Fizer (44% 3's; 62% FG) is a significantly better shooter than KT or Corliss at comparable stages, and though he doesn't have Barkley's super human hops, body control & quickness for a guy that size, is quite a bit further talented in this department than the former guys. Footwork can be learned, athleticsim can not.

The only slightly realistic choices I would prefer for us to draft over Fizer are Martin, Mihm, Swift, or Haywood (they last 2 may not come out). We would have to have a lucky ping pong ball or do some manovering to have a shot at any of them.
