It's not ridiculous. I personally find him annoying, but he's a huge baseball fan. He's at a lot of games. He has a big movie coming out (out already maybe I don't know). He's very popular. Baseball is trying hard to get their ratings up. They therefore picked a popular actor/comedian who also happens to be a famous fan of one of the teams in the playoffs to make their commercials. It sounds pretty reasonable to me.

The NFL had Don Cheadle and the NBA has all sorts of "I love this game"

Great arguments. I guess I get a little frustrated with the public angst that accompanies some commercial success. To be fair Dane Cook came along at a time when the internet (myspace) was a very useful tool in promoting one's art. I use to be one of the biggest comic cynics out there but I found it unhealthy and a waste of energy being it that I live the craft everyday. I've found it easier to concentrate on how I can be a better comedian than to concern myself with what everyone else is doing and how they do it.

Carry on, consider me ignored. :)

That's seems to be what most really successful comedians do.

The court of public opinion eventually catches up with you.

Dane Cook, Carlos Menstealia, etc will all fade into oblivion in entertainment history, while the truly creative ones live on..

So that tool for these playoff commercials is Dane Cook, huh? Looks like I will definitely not go see "Good Luck Chuck" now. Damn, if he is as annoying in that movie as he is in those commercials, I can only shudder at how much of a train wreck that movie is.

I remember those commercials. They were awesome. I liked the one with Dante Hall. "And Don Cheadle's pretty fast."

How can he rip on Dane Cook and then proceed to perform the most annoying and unfunny stand up possible?

Don Cheadle is to Dane Cook what the Houston Rockets are to the Utah Jazz.

Please don't even compare them as celebrity spokesmen.

This is the part I don't like.

I don't find Dane Cook's stand up funny at all. I loathe everything he represents and the audiences he covets, and none of his MLB commercials have made it past the 5-second mark with me before the channel gets flipped.

But blanket stuff like "he's not funny" doesn't work. Your grandma's funny. The guy that reads the meter on your house is funny. Dan Rather's funny. Sometimes, done the right way, farts are funny.

Dane Cook, at a 2am diner, riffing on some guy wearing a fanny pack, would probably make you laugh. I'm about as droll and dry as they get, but I'm pretty confident he (and trillions of other people) could get a laugh out of me. That would make him "funny."

His stand-up makes me want to melt things. His overall shtick is beyond wearying, beyond enervating, so infuriating. But I'm never going to say someone is "not funny" just because I don't like their stand-up.

Dane Cook is not only a very talented comedian, but turns out he's also a very talented singer. :D

Is it just me or does Dane walk like a girl..?

Also I don't really like Seinfeld's stand up too much. It's too clean for my taste.
I love Dave Chappelle, who could get enough of that purple stuffs?

THIS is the part that I don't like.

    Farts are always funny.
