This is the end-all for any legal download DJ mix site...

    www.alldj.org

You will probably find any and all popular and lesser known DJs here with all styles of EDM. If you'd like some really good electro house, do a search for Tyler Michaud! His stuff will dominate your ears!

I don't know if it is true trance music or whatever, but some electronic music I have liked over the years is Tranceport by Oakenfold and "Dreamland" by Robert Miles. I also like "Leftism" by Leftfield and "Endtroducing" by D.J. Shadow - I know those last 2 albums aren't really trance but I consider them to be good dance albums.

There are definitely some good suggestions out there. To start someone off with dance music, I would recommend one of the big dj's:

    Armin Van Buuren
    Paul Van Dyk
    Tiesto
    Markus Schulz
    Deepdish
    Benny Bennasi (Maybe)

If you have a little bit of an aquired taste, you'll start to figure out what aspects of dance music you like and you can go on from there with other artists:

    Sasha
    John Digweed
    Satoshi Tomiie
    Dave Seaman
    Danny Howells
    Nick Warren
    Max Graham
    Hernan Cattaneo
    Mark Farina

I think a good cd to start with is Paul Van Dyk's Politics of Dancing Volume 2. There are some big tracks on there and it has a nice vibe throughout both cds. Its mainstream enough but not boring or cheesy.

I, myself, started getting into the music with the Global Underground Series. I already had a little bit of a background with electronic music, but this series did a great job in introducing me into the world club scene and what kind of music is played by different artists. There are so many great albums and they are not mainstream or too underground. Check out the famous Sasha Ibiza GU (#13) which is the most successful cd of the series. Great tracks, some of them big time tracks, but check out the programming and the energy throughout the whole cd.

Those are just some suggestions. For those of you who want to explore all aspects of electronic music, check out www.protonradio.com. Free streaming radio 24-7 of just about every artist you can think of. All types of genres are played and you'll find something you like.

I take offense to being a called a CRAP ASS GUIDO DJ! I'm not even WHITE!

I am signed to Ultra Records and have done their Ultra Dance, Ultra Trance, and Club Anthem series. Ultra has signed people like Markus Shulz, and is arguably the #1 AMERICAN DANCE LABEL PERIOD!

    Look at their roster!
Tiesto, Armin Van Buren, Roger Sanchez, Armand Van Helden, myself - The Riddler, and the list goes on and on.

The Ultra Dance series are the more MAINSTREAM DANCE compilations but they do have some credible Artists from EVERY DANCE GENRE! So before you go on your high horse about Dance music....RECOGNIZE...

O by the way? where are you from again? Houston? The dance capital of America right?

People getting this upset over such a crap genre of music is hilarious. I'll take deep house/electro/downtempo/trip-hop over the predictable played out crap that trance is these days.

There, I'm fitting right in in this thread! :D

Never heard of boards of canada, but I'm a huge Aphex Twin fan and that is definitely not trance. Underworld and Aphex Twin are the two most innovative electronic groups out there.

    No. That's Art.

This is the gheyest thread I've read in a long time. Discussing the merits of a musical genre that dominates gay mens culture. You want a CD suggestion? Fine. Go pick up every soundtrack for Queer As Folk.

Everyone needs to chill, take thier shirts off, and wait for the oxygen bath to drop.

I've only heard one Boards of Canada song("1969"), but if that doesn't count as trance, I don't know what would.
