Seattle had the #2 pick in the draft (Durant) the year they decided to "start from scratch," which basically meant letting Rashard walk and trading Ray Allen for the #5 pick, Jeff Green. The Cavs didn't even have a draft pick this past draft. It's going to be a hell of a lot harder for them to just follow the OKC path. Further, if they destroyed their team there's no guarantee that they would even get a top three pick. Some years having the #2 pick in the draft means you lucked into Kevin Durant. Other years it means you get Hasheem Thabeet.
