posting you're race-card picture in absolutely no way makes what you said any less idiotic and ridiculous. you actually just compared the Lebron James FA "decision" to slave ownership?? they are not at all comparable.

I guess you could say he convinced Shaq to spend a year there.

But check out one of the threads in the GARM about Bosh when there was discussion about whether he could go to Cleveland over Houston. And then everyone slams Cleveland (the city), no amount of money could convince someone to spend 6 years there, Cleveland tourism YouTube joke posted 10x, etc.

This is not aimed at you, but I've seen many people say 'well if he's the king he should be able to recruit players.' People can find plenty of reasons why not to go to Cleveland when we have a vested interest as Rockets fans, but now suddenly people forget Cleveland is a repellent for anyone who wants to have a life?

What should have Cavs fans done? Boo him?

How do fans control whether he bites his nails or dances. He dances at away games too.

And people keep harping on the 'king' nickname. Unfortunately that nickname wrote itself. 'King James'. If his last name was Brakowski I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be.

There is something to the slave-owner analogy, but I'm not going to get into it outside of D&D.

Well at least cleveland got screwed by a real superstar, we rockets fans got screwed by a WANNABE "SUPERSTAR" DIVA who felt "INTRIGUED" by the prospect of playing for the rockets.

Good for the owner...His letter is spot on and it was a self fulfilling display that I gladly tuned out...

He did quit, however, I do think that when players are traded, you don't see them gripping about the team and city as much as Gilbert did...

I will save it for the d&d and thats where i should have put it, but when i hear "ours" and those possessive owrds like that, it irks me big time. When the owner comes out like he did, he sounds like he just lost his most prized possession.

Completely disagree. I was on the phone with a Cavs fan when he saw this letter on the Cavs website (before the media picked up on it). The guy read it out loud so me and the other guy on the phone call could hear it.

After he reading it, he point blank said he felt 100x times better about the whole situation and even though he knew the Cavs are not contenders any time soon he was glad the owner let the fans know he was fired up over all of this.

I promise you the city of Cleveland loved this letter and that's who it was intended for.

Is this the part where I point out that Cleveland never had slaves?

Gilbert should be lauded for this. Lebron deserved to hear every word of it. He deserves all the negative attention he will get going forward. I personally was glad he went to Mia, especially if his 2nd choice was NY (because of the draft picks we have)...but like he said in his interview...his mom said that he will have to live with the consequences of his decision.

I will never buy the notion that he JUST decided that morning. BS LeBron. Be honest for cryin out loud. All you have is your word and you are BARELY clinging to that right now. Come clean and at least say, "Cleveland deserved better. In hindsight I shouldnt have made a national spectacle of myself and my decision when I have known since the little "summit" I had with my buddies in Miami. I should have called the Cavs and made them aware of my intentions like a man instead of surrounding myself with paparazzi, bodyguards and all this crap and keeping everyone (except Wade and Bosh) on pins and needles. I should have done everything differently."

Thats the VERY least he could do

How can you be this stupid? It's not that LeChoke left, it's how he left, how he let Cavalier fans twist in the wind, how he turned his announcement into a one hour TV special. What a dumb thing to say.

I can also back this up - the folks I know out in Ohio are all about this letter - Gilbert became a hero to them last night - they're slapping it on facebook next to their pics of burning LeBron jerseys.

And I say good for them.

James leaving isn't like Bosh leaving, or our McGrady divorce. He was Sports Jesus to that city. He was one of the few good things to hit that town in the last two decades (sports and beyond) and easily the best athlete to ever put on a Cleveland uniform. Add to it that he was a hometown kid bringing global attention to a beaten down city....he ripped out their soul last night.

I don't personally begrudge him, I think the situation in Miami is neat and unique. That said, I totally get every person in Ohio that feels bitter and betrayed. This is a huge blow not just to the Cavs but to the city itself.

You don't really believe that, do you? LeBron was going to get torched in Cleveland regardless of how he left. Granted, the way he left was pretty damn tacky.
