I thin losing those 2 games would only make us less appealing to a free agent like dampier.

he wants to ideally go to a strong contending team with no stupid losses like the last 2 games.

i think dampier was always gonna come to us. who else was he gonna go to? raptors?

Your probably right. Now that they have Dampier they could start Dampier and bring Yao off the bench and close with Yao in the final minutes of every quarter. The clutch moments of every quarter where they seem to give up every single lead.

Rockets keep signing big guys and RA is barely playing with big guys ...

    Center rotation: Yao/Dampier/Miller/Hayes
    PF rotation: Scola/Miller/Hill (?)/Hayes

Patt to the Vipers I guess ...

Except that we had Jordan Hill and Brad Miller chilling on the bench when this happened.

I don't agree with this signing, look at the logjam we have for PF and C:

    *Yao
    *Damp
    *Miller
    *Scola
    *Hayes
    *JJ
    *Hill
    *PP

Yep, 8 slots (more than half the roster) for just 2 positions

The major issue with the logjam is, as others mentioned, that Adelman flat out doesn't play anyone else. We are super deep but without purpose-- it's just a bunch of talented guys sitting around waiting for someone else to get injured.

He said some BS about letting the veterans rest their legs, playing the young guys, shifting lineups based on opposition-- just empty words, really. And the Dampier signing, while I don't hate it (though I don't like Dampier himself), is nonsensical to me after our roster has already been shaped at this point. I thought we were going to develop Hill a bit more and give him a fair shake, especially since we were actively trying to bulk him up. Now he won't get a chance at the 5 at all.

Hill must be moved to the PF position, it is his natural place and where he's an special player. If your backup PF-Cs are Hill-Dampier... well, this is another thing, they're are not Hayes + Andersen, they will help you a lot in the paint. You have elite rebounding with them.

I said it this summer, Hill should finish the season above Hayes in the PF rotation.

Hayes must be a simple specialist, that's all a 6-6 big man can be on a contender.

Miller still will get more minutes than Erick.

This means a move is inevitable I foresee a big time deal involving Hill or Patterson in the upcoming weeks along with at least two other of our guys heading out-- we just don't have the spots to sign Dampier with it.

man love this signing, so basically erik will be starter when yao sits out back to back, and miller backing him up, man we are stacked.

If true (I doubt it), this would be the very first time that this "source" has broken news that were not completely fabricated by him. So let's wait and see.

    exactly what i was thinking.

we had 2 big mean ride the pine the other night....who logged a collective 3 minutes..what's the point of adding another?? i THINK i'd rather see Jordan Hill with these minutes. we'll see.

Exactly why I posted it in the other thread as a rumor, I don't trust HW but saying that it makes sense if they are worried about protecting the paint. I don't like how it APPEARS Hill will become an after thought, he played well enough in pre-season to at least get a shot. We would now have 3 legit 7 footers and 2 guys at 6 11 along with Scola and Hayes...we would official become a BIG team now.

Good signing. We got another big to grab boards and play some D. No more Hayes at center please.
