Remember when he was "the answer" for the Yao limited minutes situation? Yeah...doesn't seem that long ago. Like maybe only a month or so back.

Having Dampier right now would be good. The team could really use his rebounding and shot blocking.

We do not need MORE assets on this team, we need fewer to play and let the team come together.

Lol and Brad Miller didn't play tonight. Jason Friedman or whatever his name is said that the deal is there but it's not written in stone that it will happen yet. I don't have a link i just heard...

 

The terrible thing is to act thinking in today, you gotta think in long term.

 

Signing Dampier is Les' knee jerk reaction. I saw him sitting in the stands at the Warrior game. He looked annoyed, not happy. We were winning at the time but the game was close and our defense looked porous at the rim and Miller was not playing. I always thought Miller was first Adelmans idea. Morey was probably weighing all of the alternatives for a big and Dampier and Miller were on the list. Adelman strongly pushes for Miller and Les approves and then watches his Rockets lose with Yao out and Miller on the bench.

Dampier is not the answer. Yes he is a big body. Yes at his peak he was a decent defender. He is not at his peak. Every team could use a good defensive bacjkup big. Especially at Dampiers price tag. Why is he still on the market. WHy doesn't anyone want him. No one. Why are we only interested in signing him for 1 year deal. If he was any good wouldn't you want to lock him up for at least. He is crappola and Les just wanted to try to get this guy because he is pissed at Adelman. Les is pissed at Adelman mark my words.

Everyone thinks it's a problem between Morey and Rick but the problem is Les and and Rick. Les was pissed when Adelman went to the media complaining about being ordered to play Yao 6 minutes a half. ANd then when rick split Yao's minutes 8 and 16 he was ordered to play 12 and 12 a half. Right now Rick's hands are tied with Yao. I suspect he will be reprimanded for only playing Yao 21 minutes last night. He has strict orders right now on how he can play Yao. It is frustrating to him. And Les is pissed at him as well.

So Dampier is a knee jerk reaction that Les has asked for and Morey is trying to hold him back on. They may still sign him but I can assure you if Les Morey and Adelman all agreed Dampier would help this team he would already be on this squad.

 

....unless he has something bigger up his sleeve. Maybe Dampier is needed to fill a void created by a trade. Would we trade Miller? Hill? If one of those two are going somewhere, Dampier makes more sense doesnt it?

 

I seriously doubt there is any amazing trade in the works, folks are just hoping for something that isn't there.

Im thinking small actually. Not a mega star deal. Something more akin to the Lee/Ariza deal.

I dont think this level of a trade is so far fetched. Some teams are already looking to make minor adjustments to what the season has shone them.
