I'm all for signing Dampier if he can play like he has in the past...but the Heat passing him up makes me a little skeptical. Especially with this news about them being willing to sign Eddy Curry

I was reading a day before the Rox signed Dampier that A LOT of people in the Heat front office wanted Dampier but Riley was the one that passed on him. I wonder if he rubbed him the wrong way during the initial courtship and thought it wasn't a smart move to give into Dampier's demands or if he just thinks he's done? I guess we'll all find out shortly.

When is Dampier dressing his ass up for the Houston bench?

How long will it take him to get into game shape, and learn some of the system?

I am all for Dampier signing, but his defense is overated on this board. The Mavericks's defense he anchored when he was at his prime didn't scare anybody in the league. Sure he will help us defensively, but is not going be as much as a lot of you guys think. Bottom line this is just one of those OK signings, but he will not get the Rockets over the hump.

This may be true but Miller is not defensive presence. Dampier is a big body that defends. Miller, not so much. Morey knows this and that is why he is only signed for 1 year, or until our "defensive" presence, Yao, is back to game shape.

Back in his prime Dampier didn't scare any of us because we had Yao...

What is the story on Dampier? Did not play last 30+ games with Dallas due to knee? Was traded to Charlotte then released? Is why he is out of shape? Why no news past days? Assume he is not practicing with the Rockets?

Wonder if the effort to trade JT resulted in a few possibly interesting larger multi-player offers that the team is sorting through. Hmmm... Otherwise, it seems a fairly straight forward task to compare what teams offer for him (probably 2nd round pick kind of stuff).

If J.T. gets some playing time even in garbage time we will know that something is in the air.

I'm I the only one that find it strange or telling that a team in the Miami Heat, which needs a good big man, skipped to sign him when it looked like they were his first chose?

You're certainly not alone. I hope Houston has done it's work on his health.

A year ago he was in the hospital with "mystery" illness? Numbness in arm?
After a couple of weeks was cleared to play?

When you make moves in the NBA for your team it either helps you or hurts you. This move helps us. Bottom Line.

Waive Taylor's butt and get Dampier in here as fast as possible.

I'm tired of teams getting easy shots in the paint when Yao is out.
