It doesn't really matter who the Rockets add to their roster at this point. The perimeter defense is the problem and losses similar to the first two games are inevitable unless this major problem is addressed.

I don't have a problem with trading for Chauncey Billups to try to win now, because after Billups retires we still have Lowry and Ish Smith for the future (this of course assuming we trade Brooks to get Billups). I don't think Denver is willing to trade Billups though.

Denver doesn't want to move Chauncey.

I'm not a Dampier fan but he addresses a need this team has more so than Brad Miller ever did. The Miller signing was a stupid one for that amount of money.

The team just got better and did it with a cheap, low risk move.

I'd have rather seen what Hill could do defensively against some of the bigs before say this is a positive move. Honestly, I think this is a waste but I am bias in that I have a long time tradition of 'Hating' on Erica.

And despite my love of the Rockets, unless his game suddenly jumps to respectable levels. But since this is Erica we are talking about, I am not worried about that.

It is a shame that we have to let Taylor go however. Dude seemed like he had potential.

I agree. Martin and especially brooks need to play both sides on the court. The last two games are a wake up call.

Maybe the difference that Miller got versus Damp's was because of familiarity and IQ. Considering RA system, that might hold some value.

I think it just shows you what kind of confidence the Rockets have in Hill if they signed Damp without even seeing what Hill can give us on the court.

I would rather keep Brooks. We need to look towards our future as well.

Very wrong indeed!!! Although Martin and Brooks are subpar defensively, our interior defense has been even more atrocious. The game vs Golden St was a layup drill for the warriors. They prolly saw more intense D IN PRACTICE!!! Not saying Dampier fills all the voids, but he is another big body that we can throw in the middle. Yao, Miller, and Dampier gives us great options on C. Espcially in the playoffs against some big teams. Just think that we now have a frontcourt where we can rotate Hill, Hayes, Scola, Yao, Dampier, Miller, and maybe even Jeffries. Thats a lot of big men who can do different things. We should be able to match up well against most teams.

The reason we lost to the lakers was because of uncontested 3s by blake and brown. We lost to GS because of both post and perimeter defense, or the lack there of.

This is for all you people who think that we are going to cut Ish Smith

"The Warriors could use another point guard and have a lot of interest in Houston rookie Ishmael Smith. The Rockets need to remove a player from their roster to make room for Erick Dampier and the Warriors hoped it would be Smith, but word came Friday that Jermaine Taylor will be waived or traded.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Warriors general manager Larry Riley spoke with Houston general manager Daryl Morey on Friday night and was told Smith will be staying with the Rockets.

"We all wish they would release him," a Warriors source said."

    That was from ESPN insider.

I watched both games, and I'm very aware of how we lost. However, giving up wide open layups is WAY WAY more aggravating and stupid than some missed assignments on the perimeter. Although I agree they have to get better at perimeter D, I don't think that will "doom our season". Not to mention our better perimeter defenders should have been on the court at the end of that Laker game. Courtney Lee cough cough...

    Defense Wins Championships.

Good to see our organization's number one priority is defense, regardless of who it is specifically (even an ex-mavprick ;) ). I think he helps this team, good move.
