Yeah, the Rockets never have injuries and Adelman's stubborn so Patterson and Hill will *never* play for the Rockets! Ask Carl Landry! Wait...

Please don't be too harsh on this. It's just a 2m 1yr deal. Yao is limited and Miller got old legs. They need size and muscle to fill in the paint and one cheap deal won't hurt the team anyway.

Dampier has shot over 60 % from the field in the last 4 seasons while averaging about 1 turnover per game in this stretch.

Dampier jumped and challanged shots; that is more than Miller can do. I'll just have to forget the whole Erica business and start to like Dampierina.

How about Battier, Jeffries, both picks for Iggy now? That would make us clear contenders, right?

Brad Miller can make free throws, while Dampier can't even hit the rim.

Dampier isn't that bad a free throw shooter. He's a 61, 62% guy, which is pretty normal for a center.

Granted, Miller is a good FT shooter by any position's standards.

We have Iguodala for defense. No need for Battier. I'd trade Battier, Jeffries, Hill, Taylor, Knicks ability to swap this year as well as a Rockets first next year (since the Rockets own the Knicks 2012 pick) for Iguodala and Hawes.

Check his playoff stats. Turnover per actual player possession goes through the roof. As I've said before, *if* we can make the playoffs, Adelman better nail Damp's ass to the bench. I could not be more serious.

It's a very good point, but I think some of us honestly believe it could be negative. Look at our roster and the attitudes of all the guys, and now add a guy who intentionally skipped training camp and preseason b/c he knew he could get away with it.

Before this, I kind of liked the persona of every single guy on the team, which is really unusual. But that's kind of silly too -- you really don't know any of these guys. C-Bud could be living a Dexter type life off the court.

Economically and basketball wise, I more or less agree with you. He's a useful tool to have in the shed and it's a nothing price.

According to plan, Yao will play full-time in the playoffs. So Dampier will be limited to spot minutes by then.

That's a very good point. He's such a great free throw shooter, I'd like to see him come in at the end of the quarter to try and take advantage of that. Of course, the Rockets won't do it....he'll start. Having Dampier start against upper tier centers might not be a bad option either.

I bet that Rick starts Dampier on Yao's back-to-back games to keep lineup stable and always have Brad come off the bench. That is once he gets in game shape. His extended time off probably puts him a week or more away from playing at all.
