I know it's not a likely solution, but I'd love to see Yao and Chuck play the majority of their minutes together again. The only problem with that is Chase is the only 3 point threat with that group. Going to end up clogging up the lane.

Dude, he's getting 2 million. It's a good pickup. It's not as if Morey pulled a Cuban and gave him a max contract. He's a third center on the Rockets. You can't spin this as a bad move for the Rockets.

Dampier is the poor man's Mutombo -- without the off court class act, of course.

He will share the backup C duty with Miller. Miller will play when we need offense. And Dampier will play when we need defense.

Poor Hill, he's gonna be the 4th string C and the 4th string PF.

    Yao/Miller/Dampier/Hill
    Scola/Hayes/Jeffries/Hill/Patterson
    Battier/Budinger/Jeffries
    Martin/Lee
    Brooks/Lowry/Smith

At least we don't have to see Hayes playing center anymore.

It's funny how so many people are bashing on damp and what he brings to the table. We need every bit of help we can get when we don't have Yao in the game. I'm a diehard rockets fan but watching other teams score on us at will is getting old. I know it's only two games into the season but that game against the warriors was miserable. I feel that with damp it would have been a different outcome. Great pickup by Morey, kinda glad to see we're planning on moving taylor over ish as well. Go Rockets

Dampier always has his head in the game. He knows what's going on. As evidence by this video:

Apparently he is the best at tying knots with towels. Must be preparing for that lucrative post-NBA carrer as a towel extender. Lord knows there just aren't enough.

The best part is when Avery hits Josh Howard in the nuts.

Damp can help, and our interior defense is poor. I admit we have nothing to lose by having him,but I feel he will have an up and down season. He is inconsistent, and doesn't work hard.

this may be very good. if he can play D. score some what (atleast <=5 footers), and pass I think he will be a great fit, b/c hes a big like Yao who can protect the rim. hes slow like yao too, but hes tall! I think the 3 man rotation at center will work for now, but the rockets need to get used to playing with a consistent starter. hopefully Yao comes back in december

Is that why he got fired? To avoid a potentially costly and embarrassing sexual harassment trial?

Is anyone wondering if Scola is part of a trade for Melo and Adelman is going to use Miller at PF for some minutes? With a Yao/Damp/Miller/Hayes combo, you've got a pretty good combination of offense/defense skills. And if Scola is the main piece that brings back Melo..........?

I dunno. There has to be something more here. Obviously, we are looking to make other moves. But the Rox brought in Miller to play minutes. With Yao taking 24 minutes and possibly earning more minutes later in the season, that leaves only 24 minutes at the center position. Perhaps, they are simply going to go Miller offense, Dampier defense down the stretch after Yao has chewed through his 24.

Yao/Miller/Damp/Scola/Hayes/Hill/Patterson/Jeffries......that's a lot of bigs, especially in a perimeter dominated league of today's NBA.

I hope and pray we dont bench (or trade) our most athletic bigman, Jordan Hill, and replace him with Dampier. It's WAY too early for Adelman to give up on Jordan especially after his good preseason. If so, I'd lose alot of respect for Adelman.

Atleast give Jordan Hill a chance. NO WAY in hell Chuck should be playing over Hill at this point. Adelman's stubborness right now is very Van Gundyish

A Miller/Hayes combo at PF is even worse than JHo/Rybo

Impossible. Miller can shoot the 3. JHo could not. Neither one can/could defend. And Hayes is superior to Rybo.

He's a playoff signing. Will help something during the year, but veterans like him really help you in tough playoffs series (see Sheed).

His reaction to Avery running towards him is hilarious. "He's coming for my towel. Need to hide quick."

LOL. I'll welcome him to the team even though he used to be a enemy. And hell maybe he can show pointers to Hill about inside the paint defense. Always good to have veterans to teach.

The best part of this is we might finally see the end of Chuck Hayes as the starting 5.

I think we are going to make a consolidating trade and Hill just might be part of that deal....

There's no way in hell Hayes and Jeffries should be starting in front of Hill, if Jordan get's moved back to PF...

Neither would play well with Miller or Dampier given their offensive limitations. Jordan Hill, when playing PF can be extremely effective, he can become the weak side shot block we've been looking for!!

Adelman is playing Jeffries over Hill right now because of the former's defense.
