Dampier to report to Rockets! [UPDATE: JT's agent says Houston-Dampier not happening]

Taylor has already been replaced. I think it was just a matter of time before he was traded after houston acquired Lee.

 

Screw JT, nice guy but he wasn't getting off the bench any time soon. I feel crappy for Hill, dude is NEVER going to see the light of day.

I can't find the Clutch post you guys are referring to. I assume this report has growing credibility. If it does, I think it is a good move. He is a big body that likely does as much clogging up the lane and defending the basket as Yao can do now. We don't need scoring, we need interior defense and rebounding. I think he would give us both. Is he THE difference maker, not likely, but he will make some difference?

No doubt JT is the odd man out, but I also wonder if Hill is not in Adelman's doghouse. Perhaps a trade of some kind is brewing. Apparently, we can't outscore people, so we might want some additional defense.

 

Oh god. I would totally j*zz my pants if Morey gets a first round pick for Taylor.

 

To me, Chuck Hayes just grew 6 inch taller.

 

JT is a poor man's Von Wafer IMO. He is a borderline NBA player. I never want Hayes to start at center if either Yao, Miller, or Dampier are healthy. Hayes is a solid backup 4 man.

Man, I hope Taylor gets traded. He just isn't a good team player. As for the Dampier signing, I think I'll grow to like it but I felt that Hill should get some PT. He looked much improved offensively in pre-season.

should we start a "should Yao sit, now that Dampier has been re-signed" thread?

Obviously dampier doesnt replace him offensively, but we need to be able to plug defense and rebounding throughout a game more than we need Yao's offense for 24 mins. It may also help their rythm to have some consistency. Should Yao sit out for a month or so, or until he can play about 30 mins a game?

I wonder, though, if trading Hill might make more sense. He can probably net more in trade. And, especially with Dampier, he's pushed further down the rotation. JT might not be what Morey hoped, but he's a 3rd string SG, at least, not 5th string like Hill is working out to be.

 

Just give him mins over Hayes at Center. That's all I ask for.

Feel sorry for Hill, he's getting no mins now and he really deserves a shot this year to show how much he's improved.

Hayes and Battier get far to many minutes while we are getting killed on the boards and Shane has lost two or three steps by now.

 

Dampier may only be here a year...and Hill is only so back in the depth chart because we have quality ahead of him at the 4. He's a great back up 4 now and future starter, no reason to give him up so easily.

Kid just needs to be patient.

Next summer, Jared Jeffries, Chuck Hayes (assuming he's not re-signed) and Dampier all come off the books. And Brad Miller will essentially be an expiring contract next summer.

The decks will be cleared next summer, if not sooner.

(Although, truth be told, I'd love to use Hill to attain another star player via trade.)

 

I think Houston will have to pay to trade him.
