    Interesting.

Clearing the roster spot is definitely a problem.

Logically however, the problem is really just for one year.

Ish Smith has made too much of a 'splash' this season, so if they cut him, he would be immediately snatched up by another team.

But if we cut Taylor, I seriously doubt he will wind up doing anything except following Mike Harris around, which means that next season, IF Morey really does like what he sees in Taylor, we can most likely pick him back up again after this season.

Not so with Smith, which is why I would choose to cut Taylor over Smith at this time. Sucks for the guy, because from everything I hear, he has been nothing but a model player, practices and plays hard, and is improving.

But at least it would maximize his chances of hooking back up with us next year while also allowing us to keep our Lowry-insurance in Smith.

That fool Dampier may want to decide soon. If his salary is $2 million a year, then I think he misses about $25K per game!

The Shanghai Sharks (whose owner is taking up a roster spot on the Rockets) have not yet filled their quota of foreign players. Maybe somebody can take his talent to the Bund.

Hill and Budinger have roughly the same trade value. If you were offering one of the two to a trading partner, their choice would depend pretty much on what position they needed to bolster. Taylor is barely worth a second-rounder, again, depending on what the other team thinks about him, and needs. Hill is going to play this year. The Rox just apparently don't think he is up to the level of Dampier or Miller just yet, or they wanted to have those two guys so they could trade Hill without making any holes in the lineup.

Hill has trade value. Nobody wants to give up any real piece for a Dampier or a Miller. More to the point, nobody would trade Hill to get Dampier or Miller, unless they think they can make it this year.

If we have to cut between either Ish Smith and Taylor...that is a no brainer. Are you kiddin me?? Taylor suck ball...every time i see him ....it sicken me to my stomach...why are people so high on him...he's nothing but a ballhog...low iQ baller.

I can't believe they still keep his sorry ass on this team...seriously. I am quite surprise...especially with the talent we have.

I'd kinda rather see Jordan Hill playing in the D-League versus rotting on our bench for a whole season. I know he would dominate down there and he is a little better than that, but at least he would be playing and "developing".

He'll probably be sent down soon. It seems that Adelman is trying to send a message.

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Mostly I can't believe my secret lover was the one to break the news.

This is the very definition of desperation. You people have no idea as to how pathetic Dampier really is as a player. Believe me: Hill, even Jeffries is better and they both suck. Mark Cuban made a huge mistake paying him $70M but then Mark Cuban is a fool with money to throw away (Jenga anyone?). My cousin and I would watch Mavericks' games just to see how many fouls he'd pick up just so he can get back to the bench (which is is favorite spot to take in a game). He is THAT type of player. If he was ANY good at all, he'd still be here as the Mavericks have been absolutely desperate for someone to play in the post for years now to take the heat off Dirk. That's why he scored the big contract from Cuban. He's slow, has no lateral movement, is limited offensively and for such a big guy, is a poor rebounder. Oh yeah: and foul prone. Other than that, he's a good player (not).

If I remember correctly, they broke the news on the Ron Artest trade a couple years back.
