the TEA is an elected body which chooses the state's curriculum, and as such, decides what we teach, when we teach it, and to whom. although, just because something is taught, that doesn't mean the kids will believe it.
God. Spoiler Science. Spoiler God. Spoiler Science. Spoiler God! Spoiler SCIENCE! Spoiler GOD! Spoiler God! Spoiler Science! Spoiler ... Spoiler ...I see what you did.
So what's new? The more progressive states are constantly ripping on Texas and rightfully so. We have a disproportionate number of anti-science and anti-education people that live in this state.
Do you think human and dinosaurs existed together once upon a time as well? Apparently only 40% of Texans believe they did not coexist.
I agree, but most off the big cities like Houston, Dallas, and especially Austin are fairly liberal and in line with the rest of the nation when it comes to these things. It is all the folks living everywhere else who make up that 40%.
for the longest time I couldn't figure out what you were trying to say here, but I think I finally got it.
i have a 'special comment' for keith olbermann - f*** you! why did he choose to rip on texas? those #'s line-up pretty squarely w/ the nation as a whole. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Earth_creationism#cite_note-28 As of 2008 a Gallup poll indicated that 36% of US adults agreed with the statement "human beings developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process.", 14% believed that "Human beings have developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God had no part in this process." and 44% of US adults agreed with the statement "God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so."[29] so according to this 2008 gallup poll, the united states on a whole is more anti-evolution than texas, since we 'only' have 38% of texas holding this view. STAY PROGRESSIVE TEXAS!
There is soo much wrong with this post it sickens me. One, your take on evolution is so wrong it's not even funny. No, people who support evolution don't believe we came from apes. Evolution is not a theory in the eyes of science it is a fact. Genetic changes occur over time, they have proof of this. We have more proof of evolution than we do about global warming actually. Liberals as a whole do not hate religion, in fact what do you say about the voting latinos? A lot of them are pious catholics who vote liberal. I think it's sad that people think evolution is an attack on religion. It's an answer of the how, not the why. That is what most "liberals" are fighting. What bothers me the most is if you talk to a person that rejects evolution and say "hey, you know there are bits of the bible that either are outdated, make no sense or shouldn't be taken literally" they go apeish too. Look, if you can't be a la carte with your religion you can't go a la carte with my science. You don't believe in evolution, thats fine. Give me your cell phone, computer, car, and anything else technology represents. There is happy median between religion and science, but it's SOME of the religious folk who force these sides and extremes to be drawn. I can't blame Kieth for attacking them.
Even though I'm kicking a dead horse here, this might be the worst post I've ever seen on Clutchfans...
