Except we have video. And clocks. Between those two things, you actually CAN know conclusively.

yall need to get over it. WE LOST i repeat we are no longer in the playoffs and if this shot by derick fisher is good with 0.4 seconds left then lilard shot should no doubt be counted as the game winner.

This is my point. Why even have someone guard ing the inbounder. It's not like they can pass it back to him. Bad coaching move.

I can't believe people are still defending the coaching staff. Who here thinks this staff knows a thing about winning in crunch time? They suck at drawing out plays because there are none.

Even the clock-person was so surprised that Lillard was open that he wasn't able to anticipate hitting the clock button.

i havent looked at it but given how the timekeeper tried to screw the rockets at the end of the third i'd go back and look to see if there was actually .9 on the clock when chandler made his layup. if anything i would imagine the clock then stopped early, but in reality even with that - it was horrible coaching on the Rockets part from the non-switch to Jones essentially guarding no one (because he certianly wasnt guarding the inbounder or trying to block Batum's vision)

It's 50/50 how people feel about this. There's about 4 or 5 things that went wrong here. The idea is you try to force a more difficult pass, which Jones didn't do. Nor did he turn around when it was obvious that the ball wouldn't be coming back to the inbounder - he could have been in a position to help. It's Jones' complete lack of awareness that prevents him from being a factor in this play.

You can dissect this play ad nauseam, why no one switched, why Harden is directing traffic, why Lin wasn't in the game instead of Harden, why McHale likes Parsons guarding PG's much faster than him, etc...

It was an amazing shot. It still hurts. Let it go.

Yes, IF he were to flick or fling the shot in desperation, not with proper form. He does not have a quick shot like Dale Ellis had, not even close.

Oh really, look at the shot DFish took compare to the proper shot Lillard took. DFish desperation shot, Lillard's proper form took time to shot.:)

I'm sorry to say this but the real problem here is how slow the rockets were moving in the play. It looks like they are stuck in mud while Lilard has already shot off a game winning 3 pointer with no one guarding him.

The clock was not the only thing stuck, so were the Rockets. I'm tired of this. Rockets please please please PLEEEAASE improve your defense this off season. Harden Defense, Team Defense, Perimeter Defense. Just please shore it up for next playoffs because my heart can not take this forever.

Still doesn't excuse the fact that we lost 2 games on our home court. This is Portland'S HCA.

its imposibble to shoot on .4 if the clock starts on time. But as long as the clock is controlled by humans, thats how its going to be. Peopple cant grow faster reflexes.

According to the people that have said they measured it, it was good.

The purpose of guarding the inbounder is to make the pass harder. Jones was positioned between the inbounder and the basket, meaning that the pass couldn't go straight towards the paint area. If they wanted to throw it to the paint, they had to throw the ball high, which gives defenders time to intercept or make the shot very difficult. The other option is to throw the ball towards a guy who's moving away from the basket - which is what happened. This is exactly what you want from a defensive perspective. It's very difficult to catch the ball moving away from the basket, stop, turn, and fire on balance quickly. Lillard just made a really difficult shot, guarded or not.
