Other "cities?" I think you mean other "towns." But yeah, Austin is wayyy better than Rusk, I'll give you that.

Sure, Dallas sucks, that's old news, but I've never seen anything in any city approaching Houston's bizarre inferiority complex. "There's nothing to DOO!!" "The Texans will still suck 1,000 years from now!!" and b**** b**** b**** b****. Houston LOVES b****ing about Houston.

inferiority complex or complaining? two entirely different things. an inferiority complex leads you to never say anything negative about your hometown..leads you to never even joke about it.

houston's inferiority complex deals with how the national media treats it.

i posted this statement in this thread quite a long time ago:

houston laughs at itself. even its natives do. we come up with funny t-shirts about all the bad things, and then write the phrase, "Houston...it's worth it!" houston has it's inferiority complex largely centering around media attention. but it's a pretty laid back, casual city. dallas is not.

Always funny to see people replying to a post from a year ago, not knowing that this thread was bumped up.

    :D

Scratch Los Angeles from that list. I know a lot of Southern Californians that feel like they always have to defend the fact that Los Angeles isn't New York. Chicago might make it, though.

That's the thing, I don't see people having a laugh at Houston's quirks, I see and hear them disparaging their own city. It's as if Houstonians are afraid that if they aren't quick enough to trash Houston, someone else will. When I lived in Austin, people practically congratulated each other for living there... it's the exact opposite here. When I moved back to Houston from Austin, I was really jazzed because I missed the place a lot. When I told my friends in Houston, they were SHOCKED that I would WILLINGLY choose to move back to Houston... or at least ACTED shocked. I really don't get it. People here always have great things to say about ANYPLACE besides Houston.

I really like LA (please haters bring it!). I was just there, that place's weather is 10x times better (please haters bring it!).

I mean sports wise its the same, strong NBA, MLB teams and no ones cares about the NFL.

plus, Tupac loved LA. Tupac ... FOREVER!
