    You suck.

I actually have family down there in the hell and high water who may or may not be alive right now. I think I know a little bit about the emotional and other trauma going on right now. So think about that while you pat yourself on the back for living in a city that's doing so damned much.

Patting myself on the back has NOTHING to do with it. If Dallas, or any other city, helped ONE person in need, that's an admirable act. See, it's got NOTHING to do with Dallas, or Houston, or any other city. It's about helping people, period.

YOU seem to have lost sight of that and made it some sort of contest. You of all people, since you know people involved in the tragedy. OK, I guess you and Houston win! Happy?

Man, this is insane! I go to school about 20 minutes north of Little Rock, Arkansas, and there is even a fairly significant refugee presence here! The hotels are supposedly full of quite a few Louisianans and the shelters are trying to prepare for more people.

yeah, arkansas has done a great job reaching out, as well.

every bit helps. estimations put 300,000 refugees here in Houston by the end of the week. that means a lot of people have gone elsewhere. which is great, too.

That was pretty funny, in light of the situation, humor is a good thing...

I'm glad Dallas is stepping up, and I don't think its a Houston v Dallas thing, however, Dallas just won't be able to provide as much as Houston will due to the proximity to NOLA and in general, Dallas does have the kind of stigma Toast jokes about...

By the way, Toast, despite our little disagreement....I do sincererly hope and pray your friends and family are ok and safe in all of the chaos.

OK, you can go back to yelling at me now. ;)

I know a guy on a different board who has been staying in a hotel in Little Rock for five or six days now with his wife, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Apparently they're going to be heading towards Shreveport in a few days to start working again, but LR has apparently been quite comfy for them...

I think it's rotten that you'd capitalize on someone else's misery to start a thread to glorify your city. You can put little smilies all over your posts and belittle my point all you want.

People all over the country are admirably "stepping up" to the plate to assist in whatever way they can for this tragedy. But people in Beaumont and Lafayette and Huntsville don't feel the need to offer a hand of assistance while they hold out another asking for praise.

Yeah I tried to just lightly poke fun at this pointless thread with my original post, but I'll be damned if I take any crap from someone who feels the need to announce that their city is "stepping up" too because they want some of the spotlight.

I'd come back with something, but I'm anti-Cowboy for life. :D

(Typed as I sip from my giant Houston Texans mug to piss off the Cowboy fans in vicinity)

I hate the Cowboys too, and the Mavs, and the Rangers.....I just live here. Houston will always be my hometown.

But here I am trying to get into the "spotlight" for "my" city.

    I digress.

Lisa: Mom, just get some stuff and let's get out of here, the hurricane has made everybody crazy!

Crazy old lady blindly reaches for Lisa's head

Old Lady: The last pineapple...and plenty ripe, too!

    Lisa: I'm not a pineapple, I'm a kid!

Old Lady: That's what the pumpkin said

Ralph: Hey Lisa! We're going to be in a pie!
