How can you say you're scared of Dirk? Dirk is the biggest playoff choker in the history of the NBA. I've never seen a player go from MVP to scrub role player between the regular season and the playoffs. When we played Dallas in the PO's, I prayed that Dirk would shoot the ball more and not Terry/Howard.
NH, because they can't stop yao PERIOD. Even with a healthy tyson chandler. Also, ron ron, no more to be said, unless he continue with his bone headed plays.
Dallas. I read about what teams in what order people would like the Rockets to face and I am surprised. Why are people scared of Dallas to the point where DCkid would rather play SA? Chris Paul. He is twice as good as anyone on the Mavs. And although the days of Hornets owning the Rockets seem to be gone along with Desmond Mason, they still kinda scare me.
Paul is the entire team. The only bench player NOH has is Posey, period. You don't win in the playoffs without depth, and they have none of it.
New Orleans of course. Consider the matchups this season, and all the history between Houston and Dallas
Yao/Deke Chandler/Marks Scola/Landry West/Wright Battier/Barry Stojakovic/Posey Artest/Wafer Butler/Peterson Brooks/Lowry Paul/Daniels Yao/Deke Dampier/Hollins Scola/Landry Nowitzki/Bass Battier/Barry Howard/Wright Artest/Wafer Terry/Stackhouse Brooks/Lowry Kidd/Barea Neither team can gaurd Yao 1 on 1. However, Dallas is deeper then NO. Nowitzki, Howard, and Terry are better then Paul, West, and Stojakovic. Battier and Artest could easily stop Stojakovic. Terry always seems to give us trouble with his penetration and shooting. Scola, Landry, and Hayes are a better match up with West then Nowitzki...Scola tends to give too much room to perimeter forwards like Nowitzki mainly because Yao needs help to grab defensive rebounds. NO is a slightly better match up then Dallas but Rox matchup well with either one. However, Dallas has the advantage in playoff experience.
Kidd having Dirk, Howard and Terry to pass to can be a lot of trouble, you have to really extend the defense. And for all the ragging on Dirk, as the leader of his team he has the same achievement as Kobe, Chuck, Malone and Stockton--namely getting his team to the finals and losing. We can beat the Mavs but I don't want them. I'd take NO or Denver first. NO is not playing well and have injuries that have killed depth and talent. I think Denver has every bit as many flaws as Dallas, maybe more, and that will be apparent in the playoffs when they face better teams. SA doesn't worry me too much either. No Manu and TD not 100%. I won't go so far to say they are easy pickens, but as far as the WC playoff opponents they are easier than most.
I want Dallas. The main reason is to see the revenge unfold. The Rockets need to crush the Mavs to finally pay back the 40 pt. loss. The second reason is that I'll more likely be able to see a game, being that I live near Dallas. The third reason is that had tickets to this Wednesday, April 15 game, but cannot make it, and would really hope to get a game on a weekend or at least a Thursday night in a playoff round so I could go. I guess the last reason is that I love to wear the Rockets red in the AAC! I always get into a shout-off with the drunk Mavs fans... and I win. All it takes is "Count the trophies!!"
dallas has more talent, more guns, more vets, more options........i mean NO is basically chris paul......peja's shot, david west is solid, no chandler.......
Everyone should know the answer by now. Yes, the Hornets did not have Chandler, but he would hardly be a difference between the Hornets winning and losing. The Mavericks would give us a MUCH better match than the embarrassing performance we saw from New Orleans today. Yes, we have two great perimeter defenders, but Dirk is a bad matchup regardless. Terry's midrange game has always given us problems, and Howard has played well against us. Barea had a great game against us, and got his career high on Brooks, and Bass is their version of Landry. Playing New Orleans in the 1st round, whether it's 2 vs 7 or 3 vs 6 would by far be the best case scenario for us.
wow, this should be close to 100% NO, Dallas' troubles come from not meshing properly, but on talent alone they can hang with the top teams on any given night, NO can't. i think we'd beat both, but I see us beating NO 4-1, Dallas would be a longer series and that's too risky,,
