Think her family's gonna be okay that you're a white guy?

They think any woman over 30 who isn't married is a lesbian. She figures, they'll be so relieved that I'm a man...

Yeah, it's always heartwarming to see a prejudice defeated by a deeper prejudice.

I think all this boils down to whether you believe homosexuality is innate or is chosen. The difference between race and sexual orientation is that you can't publically mask race while you can sexual orientation. Intolerence of both though has been legalized and there have been killings of both. The difference is that its harder to spot all of the gays as compared to all of the blacks.

Blacks will argue that discrimination permeates their whole lives while gays have been able to blend in and avoid discrimination. Yet you are forced to hide what you are then hasn't discrimination permeated your entire life also?

this is so stupid I don't know where to begin. first of all this whole notion that blacks are the number one persecuters of gays is so over the top and insulting it doesn't deserve response. besides rap music, which is more about youth bravado. there is no proof of this accusation.

second of all, even if you could prove that blacks in general were more homophobic then any other group how would that be ironic. as someone stated above me one is about race, one is about sexual orientation. its to completely different topics. I have to embrace everyone who is shunned because I'm black. that's more idiotic than usual for your. congratulations.

I especially love posts that tell black people how we should act. keep it up. Its an especially bright morning today.

Come on PG . . you know how *U-People* are.

Question: What Exactly is the proof that Homosexuality isn't a choice?

    1. whether it is a choice or not is irrelevent. They should not be discriminated against.
    2. Gay marriage is not about discrimination but an reexamination and redefinition of Marriage. Gay people can Marry. . just like everyone else. Gay men can marry women . . .Hetero men can marry women . . . . Gay men cannot marry men . . . hetero men cannot marry men .. . the reinterpretation is replacing men and women with 'THE ONE THEY LOVE' . . at that point it becomes a discrimination issue . . as of now that is not the interpretation of marriage [Historically Marriage and Love have not exactly been closely related]
    3. Sodomy Laws are ridiculous but they applied to everyone. Hetero or Gay could not perform those acts. The discrimination is the selective enforcement[if any enforcement at all], which is like any law. Jim Crow Laws applied to 1 group of people. 1 and enforced with a iron fist.

I am not about to try to read through the whole thread but I am assuming people are comparing the gay rights struggle with the civil rights struggle. Is that correct?

yes, though the argument is over wording at this point. They spent a page on the difference between parallel and analogy.

I apologize for that. I don't mean to be the bad guy in this argument but there is just so many fundamental differences in the topic I am just being contrarian at this point probably.

Honestly i believe the biggest battle the majority of gay people have as far as acceptance is with their own families. Another fundamental difference in the issues.

a group whose battle for equal rights in this country is probably under appreciated is women.

probably as much as we know about people who think that a black man doing an impression of a white Starbucks hippster is the same as a white man putting on black face and doing a tap dancing routine.

Blacks are one of the most anti-gay segments there are - the original article points that out. Seems to me like you have a beef with gay's as well to be honest, but that's just my impression. Maybe just a wee bit sensitive?

By the way, the father of civil disobedience (and much of the ideology use by MLK) was Henry David Thoreau. He was gay. Might want to brush up on your history a bit eh?

how does the original article point that out, because a few black churches have spoke out against this. didn't the head of our military just speak out on gays, I guess he represents all white people. i mean its well documented.
