How is this new rule fair to actual DECENT players that are getting paid what they are really worth? Maybe they aren't happy where they are, I guess it sure would be nice to be able to receive a buyout and still get every dime of this albatross contract they're signed to. THEN, have the option of signing WHEREVER they choose for more money.

That's easy to answer. Players who make a lot of money but are worth what they make are NOT going to get cut. You are not going to cut franchise players like: Garnett, T-Mac, Kobe. If you cut them, somebody else will play them $15 mill so they get double.

Finley huh? If would come for cheap, I don't see why we shouldn't take a look. He is a solid vet cursed by another bad NBA contract. If wasn't due 50M for the next 3 yrs, you wouldn't hear any complaints about him from anyone.

Finley can still shoot the ball very well. Barring an injury, he is also still very athletic and can play D. IF he would come for cheap, I don't see why not.

For around the same price, who would you rather have: Spree or Finley?

He's old, slow, and stopped playing defense about two years ago.

He'd be a disaster. Especially since he no longer has the quickness or athleticism to play the 2.

Only for the minimum, and then, only as a sixth man. Then he'd be a good option, since he'd a good lockerroom guy. But otherwise, pass.

Like I said, for the minimum I would bring him in but not for substantial money since there are players like Mobley out there who are better & that we have a shot at.

However, I don't see Cuban giving Finley the boot. Finley is the heart & soul of that Dallas team, he's their leader. Money hasn't ever been an issue to Cuban so I find it hard to believe he's considering essentially giving Finley away with no compensation. He's still going to have to pay him either way.

Im with Jeff cut Juwan and try and resign him cheap. Id take a look at Finley if he would come here for under 3mil a year.

Those of you b****ing about Finley's game must not have seen how streaky Wesley was for us last year. Yes his D was consistent, but since his shot cost us dearly, I'll settle for a marginally slower (and taller) defensive player who can shoot more consistently. MF is no longer a first or second offensive option in Dallas, so like Barry he'd also be a third option for us and, like Barry he can still put up numbers when he's on, but unlike Barry, he'll be a good defensive presence when he's not.

Finley would be another great chemistry guy for this team and if we're getting rid of Sura and Wesley we need to add veteran chemistry to go with whatever rookie we wind up with out of this draft!! If he can be had without emptying our coffers then we should sign him NOW!

MF averaged 18.6 points in 2003-2004, just a little over a year ago. He still have gas left in his tank and the vet minimum is well spent to buy that much gas.

He'll arrive come playoffs. As a low pressure third option, he'd be dangerous in the matchups.

Isn't that tampering? A greedy player would want to get waived, clear waivers and then sign top dollar with another team.

shouldn't we want a player that is going to get better? not a player that we know will get worse. We have been down the old gard road before (ward, jackson). Needing a contributor that counts in the playoffs is one thing, but we need a contributor to get to the playoffs first. Finley isn't that guard.

If there was a chance for the Rockets to grab Finley for the Vet minimum, I'd say that is a no-brainer. He is still athletic and talented enough to take the pressure off of T-Mac and gives the Rox another legit scoring option.

If those guys want to come for the minimum, then sure.

But please don't waste the MLE on some guys who wont be around for very long. None of those guys would push us over the top, so it's better to get real assets then just more stop-gap filler.

Please no more shooting guards over the age of 30. Please!
