    Do the Mavericks hire crappy news sites to make up "rumors" about them acquiring star players?
    LEBRON TO THE MAVS
    NASH BACK TO THE MAVS
    KEVIN MARTIN TO THE MAVS

    :rolleyes:

    If the Nets get Melo to agree to the extension, that is the deal Denver should take. Wait until the last day. Nets sucking. Denver hopefully watches them stay out of the playoffs. Denver then has their pick, Golden State's pick, and the Nets pick, all lottery picks, plus two other picks. They can flip the last two picks plus Murphy back out to a team wanting to dump salary. Perhaps they dump those picks and contract for Gerald Wallace. They've got Favors, Wallace plus Ty and they got those lottery picks to add another big and a SG. That would be a nice way to rebuild......if there is no lockout and all the kids come out in the draft.

    If Morey can find a way to pry out Tyson Chandler out of this mess that would be awesome. I can't see Chandler holding out a deal if you are the Mavs plus Morey tries to get him this past offseason

    Chandler has been credited by a lot of people with turning around the Mavs defense this year. He's their starting center and their anchor defensively. They're not giving him up.

    Here is another version of that article;

    The Dallas Mavericks are plotting an aggressive push to acquire Carmelo Anthony, even if they don’t get assurances that the three-time All-Star would agree to a contract extension as part of the trade, league sources told CBSSports.com.

    Part of Dallas’ strategy, according to sources, is to shift the Anthony discussions to what Cuban recently called the “rent-a-player” phase, which would drive down the price and encourage other teams to present offers without assurances that Anthony would stay put for five years -- the two he has remaining (including the early-termination option for 2011-12) plus the extension.

    Any Dallas proposal would have to include the expiring contracts of Caron Butler and DeShawn Stevenson. More money would need to be added -- Tyson Chandler? -- or a third team would need to be recruited in order to take Harrington and/or Billups off Denver’s hands.

    Another team that various team executives believe is very much in the mix -- either to make a push to land Melo as a rental or become involved as a third-team facilitator -- is the Rockets.

    Hopefully Rockets land Melo and Birdman, but you never know with Cuban, he might offer some crazy offer that Nuggets ain't going to be able to resist.
