You should check out the Mavs dancers sometime, they are definately some of the best looking women in the NBA. Also the Mavs already have a new arena (it's only 1 year old) plus it has more gadgets than the new Rockets area has. All lockers have flat screen tv's, dvd players, and playstation's. Not to mention the HUGE lounge area (with a 50+ inch flat screen tv, and pool table). You guys do realize that Houston is only a 30 minute plane ride from Dallas don't you? Cuban also has his own private jet so Lewis could fly to Houston whenever he wanted. The Rockets will be good one day (even without Lewis) but the Mavs are good right now.
With all that time Cuban spends replying to people on the net, you wonder if he visits some of his rival's sites too...
Just heard on FoxSports1190 some interesting quotes coming from Lewis. A reporter asked Lewis if Houston has the early edge over the Mavericks because that is his hometown. Lewis told the reporter that Houston does not even come close to the Mavericks organiztion and that people should not read into that. Also, when he was walking down to the court..they had the public address announcer do a starting lineup with him in it. Cuban also had some kids that were having some camp at the Mavs pratice facility carry around photos of R. Lewis in a Mavericks uniform. My guess was for them to run up to him for autographs.. Saw this in a dallas board.
We don't come close to the Mavericks organization because we actually have championship rings and are miles ahead of the Mavs. Hopefully that is what he meant by comparing the two franchises.
Damn if thats true then thats a big slap in the Rockets face. Hopefully that was a media comment that got out of hand.
That sounds kind of negative to me. If it is, then so be it. When I look at the lineup of: Ming/Cato Griffin/Thomas Rice/Nachbar (and a lot of Griffin this next year) Mobley Francis I don't say 'ooh ooh, if we only had Rashard Lewis'. I'm also wary of taking this guy after the Rockets passed on him three times. Lewis will make them pay for that insult. Listen to him now... 90 million dollars? Hello? I know you went second round and that chip is huuuge, but 90 million dollars?
And Lord knows that the Rockets wouldn't deserve that from Lewis after the way they treated him on draft day huh.
True dat. But I have a good feeling he will put that beside him and return home. With Wink,Cat,Lewis,Griffin, and Ming I think we could win atleast 48games.
Plus, there are some very loose, beautiful women in Dallas. WHEW!!!! Today was business, but tonight will be all pleasure. Damn, why can't I dribble
And Dallas bypassed Lewis with the first pick of the second round of the 1998 draft (30th overall) to pick Ansu Sesay. Now that's an organization Houston is not even come close to.
Live LOL!! I agree with TexasG that Rashard plans to do everything in his limited power to make the Roc's pay for passing on him in the draft. I don't think the Rockets should even waste their time pursuing Rashard unless they get a serious overture from him or his agent!! I do believe that Rashard realizes that his $$$ and his future are in Seattle.
Rashard's looking to get paid, and I hope he goes to the team that offers him the most $$$$$. I'd love for the Rockets to pull out the red carpet, but it ain't happening. The "hometown" advantage is overdone. Basketball is a business...where have I heard that line? Oh yeah the Rockets used it in '98.
this is another post from the message board about Rashard's visit to Dallas today: http://boards.espn.go.com/cgi/nba/request.dll?MESSAGE&room=nba_sea&id=148625 Sonics fan living in Dallas here... Anyway, I've been listening to the sports radio station down here and it sounds like Mark Cuban is pulling out all the stops on courting Lewis. Here is a general outline of Lewis' day: Lands at the airport and is welcomed by a cheering group of over 200 fans. Also on hand is a bus full of children all yelling and cheering for Lewis. Cuban takes him to the American Airlines center by limo and gives him a tour of his "new home". In the locker room Lewis finds a locker with a Lewis Mavericks jersey along with tv and dvd player. While on the court the PA system plays a introduction of players (like at the begining of a game) and Lewis' name is included. They then blast fake Lewis highlights over the PA system like Lewis beating the Lakers with a shot at the buzzer. Later in the day Lewis is treated to a tour of Cuban's privet jet, which he is told can be used by him anytime he wants. Tonight he is going to be brought out for a night on the town by some Dallas players. They want to show him what the Dallas night life is like for a NBA star. Normally I would say that this type of wining and dining wouldn't have any effect on a player, but Lewis is only 22. I'm sure all this special treatment is going to his head. If anyone can get Lewis to pass up a long-term deal for a mid-exception, Mark Cuban can. The dude knows how to court players.
Rudy has denied promising Lewis that he would draft him. Why would Rudy promise him anything, when Lewis was already in the draft and made it clear he was not going to college? What was there to gain by making such a promise? Rudy's reputation has been that he is tight-lipped about personnel issues, and that he is very deliberate and measured with his comments. He is not a windbag like Cuban. I believe Rudy over an 18 year old kid who was embarrassed from being filmed on national TV crying in the green room.
