You don't really need to pay attention to college fb at all, that's what all that stinkin draft coverage is for. :p

This year is supposed to be a decent year for rbs in the draft. There are always talented rbs that fall in the draft(MB was a 4th rounder himself). Whether that talent translates or not is a different story.

Why is everybody worried about running back?? I don't really see us having any glaring weaknesses, esp at RB. The Barber Jones duo has been pretty effective all season, in fact Barber is quickly becoming a star in the NFL. We also dont need one guy to go out and run for 150 yds, when we can throw the ball so effectively.

If there is a weakness in the team, it would be that we may need a #2 or maybe #1 WR in the future, with T.O. getting older. I dont see Terry Glenn having anything left, and Crayton is a solid #3 or maybe #2.

Other than that I dont see many holes on this team. Big, strong, dominant offensive line, great QB, 2 good RBs, excellent receiving core with TO, Witten and Crayton. Very solid d-line, fortified by Tank Johnson, VERY strong at LB, with Ware and Ellis on the edges, Ayodele and Bradie James in the middle. Shutdoen corner in Newman, a solid #2 in Henry, and 2 very good safeties Hamlin and Roy. And we're solid on special teams.

There is a helluva lot to be excited about for Cowboys fans, this is the second best team in football right now.

If it was stupid I would not expect any replies back. I believe it is valid, even in the NFL. Is a team as good as its record indicates? Why is that a stupid argument? I believe they are, which I have said numerous times, but I would like to see some more quality wins which the second half has the potential to bring in. It's not as stupid as you think.

Oh yeah, if I brought up the Patriots I am sure nobody would say anything and let it slide. I've already seen people state that if they played again they would win, if they had so and so they would win, etc. So, yeah right they would just take that, OK. Like I said it's a valid point to me, even if it is not to you and you posting and cursing and calling me names for no good reason whatsoever is the only dumb thing in this thread and it shows that criticism, even it you view it as dumb, cannot be handled appropriately.

I did not try to stir up anything. I brought up what I believe is a valid point and as I have stated we will see as the season progresses how good the Cowboys are. I give them their due for the 8-1 record just unimpresses with who they have played.

I've heard Jerry Jones said we are looking at some big name FA's and we have plenty of cap room to get Turner. That would actually be a great pick up. Trade Jones for whatever we can get if its a draft pick or package him and move up.

A few RB's in the draft to look at. McFadden from Arkansas, Slaton out of W. Virginia(assuming he declares for the draft), Mike Hart out of Michigan, Ray Rice out of Rutgers(if he declares), and Matt Forte out of Tulane(maybe in the middle of the draft?)

Also Oklahoma St. WR Adarius Bowman is out for the season with a knee injury. Depending on how he does at the Combine he could drop in the Draft. Malcolm Kelly would be a great pick in the first round. The kid has some hands and speed.

Why look for any running back? I mean Barber looks like he could be a full-time starter for the team and I don't know why he is not. I highly doubt the Cowboys pull a bad enough record to get one of the top backs like McFadden, or Slaton. They could make some moves to move up or those backs could slip. I really don't know why the running back position is being discussed. I think they are pretty good and set in that position. Jones is OK, he averages about 4 yards a carry but Barber is more of a dual threat, can break tackles, or just run over people. Why isn't he starting again?

Jones is going to be a free agent, and even if he wasn't, the cowboys wouldn't get much for him in a trade.

I doubt they would spend a 1st on a rb with where they'll be picking. They certainly have the luxury of going bpa however.

I am very leary of using 1st rounders on wrs. There are so many busts. I'd rather get one through fagency or trade if they are looking to replace Glenn.

Turner is the only big name guy I'd be interested in at all for rb. All he would cost is cap space. The top rbs in the draft would be too expensive to trade up for. As far as why - I really like the rbbc, esp when you have 2 talented guys to do it. That said, I wouldn't be crying if the cowboys went into next season with Barber as their only proven back.

Barber pretty much is the starter already, unless JJ has a hot hand.

Pun - you really think McNabb will be moving on after this season? I can't really see that happening.

I think the Cowboys are a great team, they had a big margin in every game that the Dallas won it (except the Buffalo, but that was because Romo threw a lot of interceptions), and I think Giants lost because of the penalties:

    1) 3 delay of game, in his own stadium (you dont have to say the crowd was loud, you dont have to say that Dallas cut the comunication between coaches, etc)

    2) 2 holdings, that erase two touchdowns (well, 1 TD, and a spectacular kick return to the 2 yard line)

I think Pittsburgh is very inconsistent, they lost to Denver and arizona, and Cleveland with 5-4 is the best team that Pittsburgh has won it.

J-Ville is not better than the Cowboys.

New England is the best team in the NFL, next is Indy, GB, Dallas and maybe Pittsburgh

Didn't know Jones was going to be a FA. I think Barber is too. But if Jones wasn't his brother got the Bears a 2nd round draft pick so I know we could get possibly a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th.

A possible WR to trade for is Larry Fitzgerald. Its been known he is unhappy in Zona. Other than that I dont see a trade going to happen unless we try to steal Roy Williams from the Lions and bring him back home but dont see that happening.

I've never really been high on Julius Jones myself, bu 4 yards per carry is pretty good but I don't know if he has anything else. I mean I don't think he has Peterson's speed, Westbrook's agility, or Barber's power, and I have never really seen him as a threat to catch the ball like Barber and Westbrook. He is sort of like a standard running back that does his job. Could be a lot worse though.

As far as McNabb leaving after this year, I think that is pure media speculation but there is a small chance of it happening. As many people have said, McNabb and Reid are attached at the hip and it is difficult to see him just dumping McNabb. Also remember that players with ACL injuries usually show huge improvements in season 2 after the injury. I also don't think he has been grooming Kolb to be the starter. If you remember, McNabb started playing in the fourth game of his rookie year because everybody knew he was supposed to be the future and they wanted to see what he had. Reid just does not throw rookies in there to the wolves. A lot of it depends on how the rest of the season goes though and the Eagles have a pretty tough schedule ahead of them with the Patriots, Cowboys, Giants, Saints, and Bills all left on their schedule. If they are out of the playoff race and Kolb starts seeing a lot of snaps and shows some shine there very well could be a change. I doubt it though.

    Back to the Cowboys...

I'm on vacation right now and saw a guy dressed in full Dallas Cowboy gear. He walked by and I said so who are you guys playing today, his response was 'I dont know'. I said 'What? Come on man thats your team." He smiles, ask me where Im from and says 'Uh, Yeah. Who are you guys playing?" I said to him "We won!" He would know what was up anyways.

I very much agree with the assessment. Boys have 2 1st rounders--a middle from Cleve (whihc hopefully will get better) and their own (late 1st), I wouldn't mind the latter on a WR who might go later than his talent because of injury like Bowman or Sweed. I personally think Crayton is at best a good #2 and Glenn and Owens are aging.

Overall, the that the Boys can draft based on ability, not need. I would say only QB, TE and LB are off the table. Add safety to the list for an early pick if we resign Hamlin, which I hope. I would say priority areas of WR, CB (Henry is not young nor may last as CB that much younger), NT (agile 350lb clogger). But I wouldn't pass up a good value OT, RB, etc.

On Jones, I am fine if he stays. But I don't want to overpay and I wouldn't be surprised if another offers more than he is worth. I'd certainly take Turner if the cost the near the same. If neither Jones nor Turner or comparable is signed a back up to Barber is needed--I am not comfortable than Thompson or others in that role, I would look to a speed guy who can double as a return guy--but not with the Cleve pick. How about the other Ark guy (Felix Jones) or Slaton, late 1st to 2nd.
