Just seems like a smart play to include Dallas and mention being open to an extension. Puts more pressure on the NYK to come through.
If Denver and Carmelo end up dragging this thing out until the very last possible second, what does that do to Denver's relationship with the rest of the league?? It's pretty obvious that there are several GMs (Morey included) who are waiting for this whole BS to end so they can start making the deals they need to, but this is a big domino that a LOT of teams are involved in. If Denver ends up wasting everybody's time, and doesn't get a deal done until the final hour, you would think the rest of the league wouldn't take too kindly to that, and would maybe freeze them out of any future dealings?? In such a limited environment though, and especially considering that Denver is a team with a LOT of assets, it would be hard to do that.
Yes. That is the reality to today's game. personally, I view Nene as either an underachiever or overrated. He is good, but is he a franchise player? I don't think so. Whether I want him or not is secondary to the belief I have that he is the #1 target. Centers are 'funny'. I am the guy who believes ABynum and ECurry are twins, separated at birth; that had Curry wound up with PJax and Kobe he would be Bynum; had Bynum wound up with Zeke's DysfunctoKnixies then he would be Curry. So, if Nene then where does Miller get moved to?
The Mavericks and Cuban are idiots if they consider Beabouis untouchable. -You hate to see Melo go to a conference rival but them making moves like this will make their roster incredibly difficult to manage under the new CBA. They might be contenders now with Melo, but their future and the Spurs future will be looking bleak in three seasons when the Rockets will be the team of the future.
Who cares? Nene is a significant upgrade and Miller's contract is only partially guaranteed in his third year which means he's essentially an expiring contract next year.
It has already seemed like an eternity. I keep hoping a move will be made closer to the deadline, like in the Drexler trade, but not at the deadline itself. Why? Because this waiting has been driving me 'round the bend, along with everyone else! :-(-
I don't believe anyone thinks that Nene is a franchise player. re: PF v. C -- I think he can definitely get away with playing center. But is that his best position? Would we be better off having Nene at the PF and a Dalembert/Perkins type at the C spot? That question sidesteps what we do with Scola, of course.
A deal will be done atleast 2-3 days before the deadline.....Denver will have other trades in place that can only be done after the acquire curtain players from whatever crap NY gives them. Then you will see alot of other deals happening left and right.
as much as I hate Cuban, you gotta respect the guy. He has balls and isn't afraid to pull the trigger.
He's not. And yes, the Mavs are supposedly interested in Carmelo but will want assurances that he'll sign an extension - just like everyone else.
Especially since they have JJ Barea. The only difference between the 2 is Beabouis is 4 years younger & 5 lbs lighter. If I were the Nuggets, why would I want Beabouis or Barea when I have Ty Lawson. The only possible reason I can think of is Billups will be traded & I then would need a back-up point.
