Why would you want to give Dalembert a multi year contract and risk screwing up capspace for next year? For Tebow's sake Dalembert is not putting the Rockets over the top, tank get a top pick in a deep draft and save the capspace for the all still available CP3, Deron, Howard sweepstakes.
Looks like Orlando won't trade Howard, and he will be a free agent next summer. Also, the CP3 / Clips trade is being revived. New Orleans probably doesn't want both Okafor and Kaman. Maybe New Orleans would flip Kaman to us for Dragic and Thabeet. That would leave us with expiring contracts in Kaman and our 2009 lottery bust collection, allowing us room to make a run at Dwight next summer.
sam_amick Sam Amick Houston, Denver, Sac still monitoring RT @KingsForum_net Everything is quiet on Dalambert...any word who's after him, if anyone?
I am not sure the Rox want him if they are already in camp and playing now...with under 2 weeks until opening night, it leaves very little time for him to get acclimated. I think we may just roll with what we got. DD
Kaman is also an expiring contract this year. A Kaman rental makes more sense for NO than a Thabeet/Dragic rental. I think you have to throw them the NY Knicks pick in order to get the deal done honestly. And Honestly, after the NBA's CP3 charade, who the hell wants to deal with Stern on ANY player trades. Your better off setting your sights on Al Jefferson, Robin Lopez or Gortat, Anderson V., etc. for a fair deal. However, if the deal for CP3 falls through, or LAC is able to keep Kaman post trade, Kaman would be on my short list to contact. He had a very good showing this summer in Europe and even though he's not a shot blocking center, he gives you an all-star quality Center when healthy and productive.
Well either way, they at least need to sign or trade for another big for depth at least. Roster is way too deep with PG's and Wings and the only two players on the roster who can legit play Center are Thabeet and Hill. One turned ankle and it could get ugly. McHale, from interviews, has really hammered home that they need to get bigger so Im sure Morey will throw him a bone and at least get him something. Havent heard anything about Fesenko yet. Wonder what the deal is with him, and if they can get him cheap and quick. With all the young bigs in Utah on their roster Im sure Fesenko would welcome a shot with Houston for a value contract.
I think they are waiting to see if Beidrens gets Amnestied, and Fesenko and Dalambert are the backup to the backup plan. And they are keeping Yao on Speed dial....if he starts working out in January........ DD
If we can get Dalembert for around the same contract Kwame Brown got, then that won't be so bad. Wondering if Morey is just waiting out until it's clear no one else will sign Dalembert, and then offer a lowball contract ala Bonzi Wells a few years back. More likely Dalembert is one of the last options for Morey, he's keeping track but wants to exhaust his other options first.
There really isn't any debate. He's a decent player, and he would help, but he's not worth the going rate. Unless you think he's the missing piece, you do not sign him. Look at it another way, why didn't Dallas going after him after they lost Chandler?
I think we're left with one of Dalembert Asik Fesenko Speights J. Thompson or something. I'd reconsider a trade for Asik at this point.
Dalembert is the only one of these ready to start, so we should try hard for him (this would also prevent Dallas from getting him).
Yao in a wheelchair might be the Rockets "better" option at this point. Id love to see Morey's list of contingencies to see how far down they are at this point. Look, the longer the Rockets wait to sign, given NJ doesn't screw it up with a ridic offer, the lower both of their prices should get as the player's desperation to get signed gets. I seriously doubt Fesenko gets signed for high dollar in Utah since they have their future wrapped up in Kanter, Favors, and have vet post players Jefferson, Okur, and Milsap's longterm plans to figure out. Fesenko is sure to be the little brother left at the gas station on a family trip.
Dalembert should get off his high horse and accept a one year contract. It should'nt be so hard to be the starting center for the Rockets so it's a perfect situation for him.
