If this gives us an opportunity to get into the first round and get these guys some more playoff experience, all without really losing talent, what's the problem? The only problem i see is Houston wanting yao back and worrying that a trade may upset him.
My proposed multi-part trade with Sacramento: Trade #1: SAC receives Jared Jeffries, Brad Miller and Jordan Hill HOU receives Samuel Dalembert Trade #2: HOU receives Francisco Garcia (with Yao DPE or Ariza TPE) Trade #3: SAC receives Yao Ming HOU generates $17.7M trade exception Rockets get below the luxury tax threshold this season. SAC nets about $5M this year in the process. Neither team's cap situation next year changes much (SAC loses ~$1.8M of the massive cap space they'd never be able to spend on anyone good). Houston takes on Garcia's $6.1M for 2012-13 but gets a huge trade exception. Picks and/or cash could be included as well. Thoughts?
While this wouldn't be my first choice, if this is all that comes available, it beats standing pat. If we could get a 1st rounder in their somehow that sure would help! More competition for TWill?
wow 3 transactions with one team. Has that ever been done? Id just to it for the trade exception and dalembert. Wouldnt want anything to do with garcia, we have wayy too many wings
No way SAC gives up a first rounder, but their second round pick may be a possibility. Could be #31 overall this year. Also, love your sig. I remember that quote.
It's basically one trade but broken up into parts so you can see how it works. Also, the Rockets would NEED to take on Garcia in order to get the huge trade exception, get under the tax threshold and get Dalembert. Gotta give something to get something.
Great trade, Bima. However, would trade 2 be possible, because it would put the Kings (at least for a few seconds) under the minimum salary threshold? If so, then trade 3 could not be accommodated.
I would rather: Send Jeffries and Hill to Clippers for Kaman. Take on Garcia with the DPE. Get Casspi for taking on Garcia. Send them Yao for a $17 million exception. Then use those assets, the $17 million TPE, plus the Ariza TPE, plus Battier's expiring, plus some combination of Scola and wingmen to really get something done big.
I'm not thrilled. Surely we could get more for Yao's contract, like talent? Garcia is a wing we don't need, unless we're shipping off more than Jeffries, who rarely plays, in another deal. Dalambert doesn't impress me. He's simply better than what we have now, which isn't much. Yes, it would be great for our cap situation, but I'm a lot more greedy than this!
Good question. Yes, it is possible. A team only needs to be above that threshold at the end of the regular season. Even then, they just get fined by the league for the difference. Hmmm. Also interesting. But I don't know how much the Rockets love Kaman at $12.7M for next year (Dalembert's expiring), and it also leaves the team with way too many SFs. Not a bad idea, though.
Agreed with your points. As I've said before, a Yao-for-TPE trade would only be a fallback if no major talent could be acquired using that contract.
I think they'd love Kaman as a big expiring next season. And obviously they would have to turn another deal or two to thin out all the swing men.
I dunno, I'd rather take on Beno Udruh's contract (depending on how crappy it is) to take Dalembert. I think Udruh's right for our team and can be a very capable backup to Lowry. That would leave Brooks the odd man out as he is expiring and wearing out his welcome.
It's pretty crappy. Udrih is owed an extra $3M+ more than Garcia over the next 2.5 seasons. That amount likely doubles if you factor in luxury tax. Sure, he might be a better fit (for instance, if Brooks is traded or leaves via free agency); but I don't know if it's worth the cost.
I think Morey is still looking for a bigger move. I could see us trying to buddy up with Sacramento again and going after Grainger with a proposal below: Houston gives up to Indiana: Scola Battier Lee/T-Will/Bud (one of those 3) Houston gives up to Sacramento: Jeffries Brooks Houston gets from Indiana Granger Houston gets from Sacramento Dalembert J. Thompson/Landry (one of the two) Sacramento gets from Indiana: Posey Final team trade Houston: Grainger, Dalembert, Thompson or Landry Indiana: Scola, Battier, Lee/C-Bud.T-Will (one of the three) Sacramento: Brooks, Jeffries, Posey Sacramento gets Brooks who they covet, have to take on Posey Indiana gets the power forward they crave, glue guy in Battier, and a young 2 or 3 depending on what they want. Houston we get a Center on a rental basis to see if we want to re-sign, Grainger who gives us some star power, and a PF in either Landry or Thompson. We may have to agree to take Garcia with the trade exception in a another deal and may need to add in Hill for Sacramento or Indiana along with some picks. I think Morey may be angling for something like this with a 3 way trade to get some semblance of a star player. It looks like no superstar is moving unless Carmelo goes to NY.
no to Dalembert....over paid.... 13 million.. He isnt reliable as far as scoring. He rotates slowly - Only reason he has blocks is because of his wing span. I dont think we need blocks, we just need a person to anchor the D in the middle. Dalembert is known for being lazy so he wouldnt be a person I would want to have achor the D. I'd rather have Przybilla...
