Ahem. And you know so much. Aren't you the guy who bet me that Bagwell would have 90 RBIs last year? No offense, but what you don't know about baseball would fill an ocean. Everett's defense is not so great that it raises him above being a mediocre player as a whole. And I think Bruntlett is the better player overall.

Some possible leads or maybe BS from Astros.com message board....

On XM radio they were talking something about Astros working on a deal for Adam Dunn and also talking to Molinas agent as well. Anyone else hear this I kinda of tuned in at the last moment of this conversation on the radio

I've been a supporter of pretty much EVERY Astros move made for the past years, that's quite a few years at that. I'll try my best to give the Astros and McLane the benefit of the doubt and that he'll spend some money to continue and supply a competing product, as he's said numerous times. I really hope he'll spend some money and give this city something to cheer for during the Summer.

I read somwhere earlier in the week that the Astros asked about Dunn and the Reds told them to come back when the wanted to talk about Austin Kearnes.

    Splash?

well, I know Ausmus was being courted by a # of other teams... not so sure about Palmiero.

I also hope this doesn't impact their search for a decent hitting catcher... now that Roger may be done, there's no "must-have" reason for keeping Ausmus around, except for maybe to catch the young-ins.

Teams were interested, but both San Diego and Arizona have already landed their catchers. I think Ausmus' options are limited at this point.

Sad to say, but Drayton would spin re-signing Ausmus into a "major deal".

Do you have any evidence that he would do this?

Didn't they have to if they wanted to keep him? It's not like he's going to cost us ~$7 million like the ridiculous contract signed by Ramon Hernandez.

Well yeah...but my thinking is why keep him? Go after Molina..if we cant get him, it's not like whoever we scrounge up off the FA pile is going to be much worse.

Dalati just said that he would have his daily briefing with Purpura in a few minutes, possibly some news forthcoming.

He's not terrible. He was one of our best hitters after the all-star break. If Ramon Hernandez got that much, I'm guessing Molina will get more. That's too much, IMO.
