That really flew over your head. It was an explanation for why I have the ID I have. The guy I replied to assumed I would be pissed at your previous comment because I was a BOF or something, which was never even close to true. Yes, Alston is irrelevant to the general discussion but not to the comment I was replying to.
I never defended Brooks over Lowry. I am loving Kyle Lowry. Those arguments I made were when Alston was still here. Again, I haven't said anything about Brooks being better than Lowry. That would be ridiculous. Brooks is just getting his chance because of seniority on this team. As you saw last game, Adelman isn't about to risk another Chicago flop. I don't mind Brooks starting but as soon as the coach sees him struggling to score or defend, he needs to yank him. If Brooks is hitting his shots, he can be valuable to space the floor with Yao on the court. In every other respect, Lowry is better and will likely be getting at least half the minutes at PG down the stretch, if not more, regardless of who starts.
Two that still bite from early in the season were that loss against the Spurs when they were missing 2 of their Big 3 and we had a big lead down the stretch and that Portland buzzer beater where McGrady slacked on the defensive rotation. I don't put that one on Artest at all. McGrady didn't even plan on trying before the play started. You could tell by his reaction when the ball came inbounds.. In that SA game, he did absolutely nothing down the stretch when we needed him to step up against a depleted team. He should have been able to score a couple buckets no matter what his condition was. Heart, heart, heart... That Chicago game was right there, too. The only reason that bites less to me is that I see a general swagger in the team over the last couple of weeks since McGrady has sat out. Meltdown or not, every player is working their butt off every game. That's the minimum I always expect from a pro basketball team.
I would hope a guy who makes more then triple the salary a year then another guy would outperform him.
You hear that swoosh sound... that's another one flying right over your head. He was using salary to justify Boozer dominating Scola. I just made a similar point using Yao and Jefferson. The original discussion was about whether Scola would put up bigger numbers than West (individual stats), not which team won. To answer your question: The Rockets won. If you want to go there, let's compare Yao's salary to any Sixers frontcourt player. Maybe, even the combined salary of their entire frontcourt. Not sure about the latter.
Back on the subject at hand, The Blazers are a no-show for this game. If the Nuggets keep the pressure on, it will be an easy blowout. Just like the Jazz, the Blazers are a very poor road team. If the Nuggets ease up too early, the Blazers will make their normal 2nd half run and make it respectable.
I guess team success as a result from the team being built around you doesn't count. PS. Yao makes 15 million this year
Not when it had zero to do with the discussion. The first comment I replied to was arguing that Scola would win the numbers game against West. I was focusing on that detail if you go back and look. Yes, team success does matter if you want to ignore the direction and details of this particular conversation. Winning is pretty much all that matters, if you want to stray from the discussion at hand that you are jumping into and get into generalizations.
Yes it does relate to the conversation, when you brought up Yao and Jefferson's salaries. You bit and continued it. And if you didn't see my edit, Yao makes 15 million this year, so there goes your attempted rebuttal.
I accidentally plucked McGrady's salary. Either way, you went off on a tangent. The original conversation gave no consideration to salary. So when you carried the discussion in another direction, I made a comment using the same logic as you. Yao makes almost 50% more than Jefferson and Jefferson has pwned him more than once recently. After using your very own logic to show how players that make more money don't always outperform lesser paid players, you went off on another tangent. The guy said Scola would put up better numbers than West H2H. My response also had nothing to do with salary. It was simply evidence that West is likely to put up better numbers than Scola in a H2H match based on past performance and common sense.
Well.. you could say that the Rockets are in that group with the Jazz and Blazers in "the poor road teams group".
that's gotta suck to have your shot volleyball spiked, then have it hit you right in the face, then have it bounce out of bounds off your face.
