He is the right type of PG for the Rockets, at least as a backup, it looks like.

He's under 6'6". He ought to fit right in.

Well I was down in So. TX on Sat. night, so I had to see the Vipers. Had good seats about center seats 15 rows up in the lower bowl. $35 . You can sit on the sidelines for $71, but must show proof of vaccination.

Spent the game mainly watchin NIx. He sort of reminds me of Sengun. Just a tad slow first step, but largely gets things done. This does create some concern about eventual stardom. He has excellent straight line speed. (He was one second fastest in the 3/4 court sprint at the 2021 NBA draft testing.) He is physically strong and can bully most of the other players and obviously all the perimeter players. He did have some problems bringing the ball up against a very aggressive quick defender, which slowed him down, but he was able to use his body and strength to fend him off. Very confident and great court vision. Only 19, but clearly a leader and well liked by the other Vipers with whom he was always very engaged with while either on the court or on the bench. Impressive as most of the others were 4 or 5 years older. He had a bad first half, but came in strong at the end. I was surprised at his good stat line. 22 pts 8 assists 5 rebounds if I remember.

BTW Trevelin Green looked amazingly athletic, shifty and able to get off good shots, though a bit out of control at times.

Yeah, that first half in the last game for Nix was pretty horrific (he was something like 1-10 shooting or something), but he apparently came back in the 2nd. I think I'd just be happy with him doing well enough to be a regular-rotation player. I don't need him to be the next Magic Johnson or Isiah Thomas. If he makes the roster in that manner, he'd still be a steal. I still think he's a bit chunkier than he was as a high schooler, so maybe he's got a bit to go on the weight loss/getting in shape they want him to do, as well. I also still want to see if his 3 point shot's really improved or if it's just a hot streak because he's still depending on the drive and bullying people inside from everything I've watched.

I think athleticism is over valued.....IQ, and skills are more important.

Tons of great players are not the best athletes.

I’m hoping that since Augustine is an expiring contract, if he doesn’t get included in any deadline deals, he will get released and they can bring Nix up.

Could not agree with you more about Trev Queen.

He is the Vipers best player and has best upside to boot.

To be fair, this is Hardy's first time in G League and Nix's 2nd season in G League.

And Nix is with a better coached Vipers team, he also previously played for Ignite and did not do as well.

I'm really hoping he turns into the ball distributing PG the team needs.

Get this man some quality PT in the big league before the end of the year.

If they don't convert him someone will offer him money and we get nothing in the offseason.

Yeah, Jaden Hardy also shares the court with a couple of other potential 2022 first rounders, too. The one thing he was known for coming into the G League was his shooting but early on, it was horrific. I don't know if he's picked it up since then. I'm not going to get myself hyped up too much about these guys until and if they get more playing time in the NBA. Last I looked, former Rockets legend Mason Jones is leading the G League in scoring.

Josh Christopher’s success in the g-league and how it translated when he was called back up to the Rockets just makes me want to see Daishen Nix even more. Hope after the trade deadline there is an opportunity for him to start getting minutes.
