Not everybody who is young turns out to be good see Mason Jones. I didnt say we should cut him but if we see a better prospect and we dont have free spots available I'm ok with letting him go. And yes he just put up 31 pts but GLeague is still different from nba at the end of the day. He shot 11-25 in Gleague so even when he blew up he still wasnt that efficient.
He is averaging 26% from 3 and 40% FG for the season. Maybe he had a couple of good games but for the most part he was bricking out there.
I was referring to his GLeague stats. You said "... so even when he blew up he still wasn't that efficient". He was blowing up in the GLeague all season long. It wasn't like this was his "blow up" game.
Isn't the hype around Nix from his time in the GLeague though (when he blew up)? He averaged 49.2% FG and 39.7% from 3 in the GLeague. Those numbers seem good to me. It hasn't translated at all to the NBA, but you mentioned when he blew up, which was in the GLeague
Hmm you are right man my bad. The only blow up I was referring to was his last 30 pt game in the finals, havent really bothered to look at his gleague play.
I feel like there is an inherently different way and concept in which the Ignite rookies play, versus how any other G-League team plays. For example, neither Green nor Kuminga are performing nearly as well during their time in the G-league with Ignite, as Nix is now with the Vipers. However, both Green and Kuminga played very well in the rookie seasons. Nix himself also only averaged 9/5/5 in Ignite, but has since averaged 23/8/6 this season with the Vipers. I'm sure Nix improved a lot as a player, but I am curious if the Ignite coaching staff are instructed to enforce certain play styles on the rookies.
I got a feeling Nix is going to have a similar explosion in the NBA next season as he did in the G-league this season.
Since they invested 4 years in him they need to give him the reins. Give him a ton of minutes, let him start and see what he can do.
I think a lot of stuff goes into this : Nix looked like he was out of shape after high school and on the Ignite, which is weird because he looked like he was in better shape before the draft. He's still not in 100% shape but is improved in that regard. Kuminga and Green were the focus of that Ignite team more than Nix was, and justifiably so. They're going to showcase the expected stars more on that team, I think. On the Vipers, Nix and Queen are the "stars" or 1a/1b, with Kabengele as a 2, maybe.
So no Ivey? If this is true and with the way KPJ ended the season, I can’t imagine them looking at a point guard.
If traded at the draft for more than we gave for him success for us, the other team & Porter. We helped him and he helped us. Thank him for his service and move forward.
